It looks and sounds great, it's really trending online. So great to hear interest around this.
Glad they synthesizers are gone!

I'm very impressed with it. I'm really looking forward to the film.

and although a very quick shot... I like how Amanda Seyfried looks as Cosette..

I was so moved by Anne Hathaway's performance - didn't want to approach it the way I originally did Evita thinking only a belter could do the part justice, but Anne's version works wonderfully here. That short scene alone had me crying. And the scenes have that gritty, "Gangs of New York" vibe - looks very well done already.
And I agree about the scene with the Lovely Ladies - gave me chills when it flashed on screen! I cannot wait to see this in Imax the first day it comes out.

Did we read anywhere that it was going to be in IMAX? I recall the "no 3D" but nothing about IMAX.

Wishful thinking on my part. I'm hoping they make a print for the Imax screen - a lot of movies do, and not all 3D; they run them for a limited time. I'm happy to see it on any movie screen.

I'm dismayed by Eponine's model-perfect looks at 1:12. She's supposed to be missing a few teeth and her face hardened by life and drinking. Cosette should be the pretty one, which is why Marius is attracted to her and not Eponine. When Eponine is pretty as well, it throws everything out of whack. The audience (who sympathizes with Eponine, anyway, since she has a memorable, lovesick song and a touching death song) will no doubt think, "Why does he want boring Cosette when he can have the beautiful, headstrong Eponine?" That's been my complaint with the musical. They put too much emphasis on Eponine and not enough on Cosette, so the former comes off looking better for the audience. In the book, Marius doesn't really care about Eponine and humors her, but in the musical they're good friends. Eponine should be wretched. We should be rooting for Cosette after all she's been through.
I had a similar problem with the Phantom movie. They cast a handsome man in the title role, and his mask became more of a fashion accessory than a guise to hide his deformity. As it turns out, his face didn't look that bad once he was unmasked; it just looked like he had a bad laser peel. Meanwhile, they uglied up Patrick Wilson with that awful wig. I remember talk at the time that Christine should've left Raoul, or why didn't she choose the Phantom since he was hotter?
Eponine and the Phantom should derive some sympathy for us, but in the end they're pathetic characters. We shouldn't be rooting against Cosette and Raoul, but when they make their foils attractive and give them meaningful songs, it shifts the audience's sympathy to them.
Wow, I just realized why I had ignored this thread for the past 11 or so hours.
At which point does complaining about the complaining become worse than the complaining?
I think I'm at that point now. Bye!
You can just smell the Oscar coming off of Hathaway. This trailer just made me feel very fangurl...and I'm two days from turning 38.

The scene where she's getting her hair cut looks really heart-wrenching.

It actually looks like France and I can almost smell how bad that situation is. Can't wait to see any leaks of "Castle on a Cloud" - it should have me blubbering as well.

sadly, all the youtube trailers have been taken down.
This is basically Anne Hathaway's early reel to Academy members. Planting the seed early in the season, making them wait in anticipation until the holiday season. She'll likely be nominated.
Curious we've seen nothing of Sacha Baron Cohen or Helena Bonham Carter yet.
But the trailer actually has some really gorgeous moments. If nothing else, this movie will be visually stunning.

You don't see SBC and HBC because they just started filming their parts last week.

That was one nicely-cut piece of promotion, and a really good "acting carries the singing" rendition of "I Dreamed a Day" by Anne Hathaway.

I've never seen a production of Les Miz that had an Eponine with missing teeth, so I think I would have been a little surprised to see a toothless Eponine in the trailer.
This is not the book. It is an adaptation, with creative liberties. Why can people not understand that.
It's gonna be a busy Christmas Day.
The Barbra Streisand/Seth Rogan comedy "The Guilt Trip" has now been moved to Christmas Day as well.
The test screenings were so positive (with even straight men going nuts over Streisand)that Paramount is giving the film it's prime winter spot.
"The Guilt Trip" trailer should drop by Fourth of July- the latest- sooner if Paramount feels it needs too.

The official release date for the movie is actually December 14, not Christmas. This is the same day as The Hobbit, which should make for interesting box office numbers.
