Les Mis cast to perform at the Oscars

Posted: 1/17/13 at 11:57pmI honestly just hope they let Aaron Tveit perform because he has been marginalized by the producers for all of awards season. The only show they are currently letting him attend is the SAG awards and I only think thats because of union rules. He has more screen time than Ms. Hathaway, although no big number, his character is the voice of revolution.

Posted: 1/18/13 at 12:06amThey couldn't sing live on film, what makes them think they can do it on TV? I really don't wanna be subjected to off-key talk-singing from the cast. It's bad enough I had to endure it while watching the damn film. Jackman sounded like a bleating goat, and Redmayne and Seyfried like Kermit fvcking Lamb Chop in the ass!

^ It's a rousing number that pretty much guarantees a thunderous ovation on its own.
Add the star power of the cast, and the perceived "bravery" of these actors "doing it live" on film and now on stage in front of a billion TV viewers ...
Yeah, that's what they'll do. Not some quiet ballad for "respectful applause."

Posted: 1/18/13 at 12:35pmI'm thinking it's going to be a medley, much like they did for Dreamgirls.

Posted: 1/18/13 at 7:44pmI don't believe that Tveit is being marginalized by the producers, I believe however that he is currently shooting his USA series in Florida, and is thus unavailable to attend many of the premieres and award ceremonies with his castmates. If for some reason he IS being marginalized, please explain further.

Posted: 1/18/13 at 10:05pmCrowe has no problems and no shame singing onstage and in front of huge numbers of people- he's done Australian theatre, solo concerts in New York and fronted pub-rock bands. He's no operatic baritone, but very few have raised the idea that he is a Paris-Hilton-level non singer.

I think Renee Zellweger might be the more apt comparison if he doesn't end up singing. IIRC she left Queen Latifah to sing her part of "Move On" at the Oscars ceremony with he vastly pregnant Catherine Zeta-Jones, right?
I see no reason why Crowe shouldn't be included in an ensemble number if he wants to be there, anyway. He can hold a tune, and the timbre of his voice can just blend into the group.
