I'd have to guess that they are bringing in professionals as well. That or bringing back people they cut. I'm crossing my fingers that Lexi comes back and that the Jock does not.

I basically agreed with their choices, minus Lexi being cut. I dont like any of the guys except for maybe Austin. For the girls I enjoy Juliana, and my favorite so far is Ashley Spencer.

And "some" spoiler " he turned out to be, as he couldnt sing a lick.

Though I was rooting for Austin last week, his cocky attitude and his "manufactured" look sorta gives me the creeps.

My sister and I were so upset when Lexi was cut. She was fantastic.

Austin creeps me out a bit as well. He is very talented, but he just has this look to him. I don't know...

Most of the time so far has been showcasing people who were cut. But I agree that they actually showed some people with real talent tonight. I think the front runners will turn out to be Ashley Spencer and Kevin.

And the "Are they?" tag will end up being something really silly - that is clearly just lead in spin. They aren't bringing in Sutton Foster to compete or bringing back cut participants.

That said - offers have already gone out to some of the ensemble and other leads (Rizzo/Doody, etc) so maybe they will start introducing the rest of the cast.

I really enjoy Ashley Spencer. Is it just me or are the Sandys infinitely better than the Dannys?

I love Austin's voice, but he just looks too pretty boy to be Danny. I am so amused that Jason is on this show. I remember him in Altar Boyz and he was such a different role. I enjoyed the "boyband" comment though.

I suggest that if they DO bring in "ringers" (professional competitors to help the producers save face and make the contest a bit more even, thus more interesting) that we all vote them off ASAP. DO NOT VOTE FOR ANYONE WHO WAS NOT PART OF THE ORIGINAL AUDITION PROCESS!

There is something about Kate that really charmed me (for the 5 seconds I noticed her), but I am not sure what it is yet. This was my first time watching so I'm not sure who Lexi was.

I am also a little creeped out by Austin's look, although I like his voice just fine.

Lexi reminds me (the way she sings, not her voice itself) of Audra McDonald. You can't keep your eyes off her.

Some people on the official website were complaining her face was TOO expressive. Apparently they don't understand acting for theater.

I don't know, none of the other Sandies do anything for me acting wise. It's all surface when they're singing. Pretty voice and the "right" facial expressions but otherwise...nothing.

I'm betting they kicked her off not because she wasn't talented enough but because they didn't want to have to contend with the possibility of an African-American Sandy. I'm not sure.

I mean, we didn't really see her dancing...it could have been horrible but I doubt it. She a musical theater major at Penn State so I can't imagine she's too bad.

I liked Kelli La Valle. She was really good at such a young age. I think they cut her because of the whole 3 hours of school thing. I'd like to see her come back.

I don't think its fair to comment much on the "acting" abilities of anybody involved because frankly, they haven't yet shown any of the acting scenes.

I think its a little silly to be so "attached" to people like Lexi: there are probably reasons why she didn't make the top 12: she had a great voice, but for all we know she has two left feet and can't act.

Or perhaps they'll do similar to AI and bring back a few "rejects" the judge's select and do a people's choice to let a few of them back in the competition. That could fill up one or two of the extra episodes.

That is how America ended up with Clay Aiken, afterall.

I was thinking that because they held EPAs for the show but to be considered beyond it you had to agree to do the show is where the "But are they?" will play in. From my understanding you could either go to the open calls which would be taped or go to the EPAs which would not be taped but you had to agree to the live shows to be in the running. I love Ashley; she can dance and has a really pretty voice. None of the Dannys really do it for me...I'm hoping that Miller is one of the first to go, but we'll see starting next week. :-P

They very well may be bringing in two more Sandy's and two more Danny's. Kevin, who is in the top 12, is the son of an old high school teacher of mine. About a month ago when I went back to visit my old teacher he told me all about Kevin's audition process and the show. I remember him telling me that Kevin had made the top 16. Granted my teacher may very well have just misspoken.

They aren't going to bring in contestants who weren't part of the "Grease Academy" - it would be completely insulting and there would be a huge backlash. They are selling the show as a search for "unknowns" - and are downplaying the credits of most of the people who are in the top 12.

Remember -though they aren't exactly advertising it: most of the people in the top 12 are already members of Actor's Equity...

The producer also said to the top 12: "If you are in this room, I am looking at Danny and Sandy." They aren't going to backpeddle on that.

I still think they may play some trick like bringing in other "contestants" only to reveal they are playing the other Pink Ladies/T Birds.

I thought little Kelley was a little average performer. Nothing special.. An Avril Lavine look alike no pun intended with her singing that song. What an awful choice for the girls. Out of all the songs in the world..

Did anyone else notice the clip of Maria's live shows when they were talking up the upcoming Grease ones? How bizarre.

I'm oddly happy that Max got through. He hasn't got a chance in hell, but I have such a soft spot for him.

I think it's fair to observe how they sing their songs. I think it says a lot. There's a lot more to acting in a musical than just book scenes, and I find that people who truly act their songs are generally the best actors in book scenes as well.

Most of the acting by the singers is very surface to me. Ok this is a sad song so I gotta put my sad face on, ok here it turns happy so I smile, There's really no inner depth.

Hey that may be an acting choice, trying to make all the characters very surface-y.

Then again, I'm often not content with the acting many young professional performers do even when they sound great. There's no soul. Their acting is robotic.

And yes, it's possible some contestants like Lexi do have two left feet, I just doubt it as she's in a top 10 musical theater program. Maybe they decided she's too young/inexperienced, maybe it's her skin color, maybe it's her dancing, who knows.

All I know is that personally, she was the only one who I couldn't keep my eyes off when she sang. She really stood out (I'm not talking about her skin/hair color).

I didn't watch the whole show, just the clips from their website.
I loved Lexi!
But out of the girls that are left, my favorite Sandy is Laura.
