Seth Rudetsky's article got it right. The couple did NOT break up and the whole thing was severely edited and completely false. It was all made up drama and apparently it worked...according to the comments posted here.
I guess I'm out of sync with the rest of America.... I'm over watching people who suck. I don't laugh at them. I don't enjoy watching them squirm and get insulted. I don't talk about them at the water cooler the next day. I don't care about the scripted stories that the show made up about them with clever editing. This whole stupid American Idol fad is influencing everything, and I'm ready to vomit.
Now here's a novel idea... lets get a bunch of LEGITIMATE performers who would REALISTICALLY be cast in Grease. Why call back the 40 somethings, the too young and not talented enough teens, the overweight people, and the token minorities? Seriously. GIVE ME A BREAK!
I can sing, dance and act. Quite well as a matter of fact. But I'm also thirty-two, Puerto Rican and a size 14. I AM NOT A SANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you know what? I would not appreciate a director wasting my time by calling me back and making me think I WAS. That does not happen in the real world.
You know what I want to see? The cutthroat battle of a real audition. There are thousands of perfect looking AND sounding Sandys and Dannys. Let us see them. Equity or non-equity. Who cares? Let us see them and let us debate who is best. THAT is interesting enough. Don't freaking show me what you think America wants to see. Show me a freaking Broadway audition.
Kathleen Marshall has lost all my respect.
Not that she cares. I'm sure NBC is paying her a hell of a lot more money than I am.
i heard from a good source the producers of the show were calling top nyc voice teachers asking if they had students who could audition while the show was in nyc..
I'm usually more of a singing than a dancing person, but I honestly think that they should choose the two standout dancers: Austin and that girl (the one who used to do ballet.)
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!
OK Ladies...a note for the future, when wearing black knits....wear black or nude undergarments please!
And this girl they keep saying they is in such danger of going home....she's the one whose singing I've enjoyed the most so far. The others are way too brazen and bold, they don't have that vulnerability you need for that role.
And WHY did they just have those girls sing Avril Levigne???
"Note to the writers: As much as I LOVE Olivia Newton John, she was NOT NOT NOT the original Sandy."
Thank You! I screamed at my TV when they said that.
Watch out for Laura. She's a girl with magical stage presence and killer pedigree to back it up.
"You just can't win. Ever. Look at the bright side, at least you are not stuck in First Wives Club: The Musical. That would really suck. "

Did anyone catch the implication in one of the tags for the show that there might be some others we haven't seen yet in contention for the roles of Sandy and Danny? That could make things very interesting...like Tyce (aka Keith) Diorio's appearance as "the spoiler" on Debbie Allen's Fame reality show a few years ago.
I also yelled at the television when they said that. Am I the only one who thought this episode was signifigantly better than the first two? Probably. So who is everyone rooting for?
much more interesting tonight I pretty much agree with their choices. Yay for them having Marissa on the show. I also wish they had them sing broadway songs. I was pissed when they had them sing Avril Levigne
I caught about a half hour of the show tonight. Eh, don't really see much reason so tune in from week to week. Tries to have the spectacle and dazzle of American Idol, but somehow just comes out lacking.
And, based on the part I saw: Can any of the men sing in tune?
I worry very much about ANY of the people I saw being cast in a Professional New-York-Broadway production.
"My guesses at to WHAT the "they think their the TOP 12" is:
A: They are bringing back a FEW of those they cut: and they've been working on their stuff over the unlive shows. B: They are bringing in ACTUAL Broadway performers to compete against. C: Their just trying to get publicity"
ClumsyDude15, these are all good guesses. I still think they're going to bring in spoilers...maybe from the many rounds of NYC auditions that they had prior to taping.
"Spoilers? What's that in the context you used it? Sorry if I am justhaving a stupid moment and not understanding."
Sorry TannerONbw. I'm borrowing the use of "spoiler" from the aforementioned reality show, Fame (which involved Debbie Allen). They basically introduced a professional dancer, Tyce (aka Keith) Diorio, mid-way through the competition and termed him the "spoiler."
