There is another big difference between Madonna and Lindsay. Although I am not sure that she retains any of her earlier skill, she proved she had acting chops from a very young age, and gave some terrific performances in a number of movies. Madonna never demonstrated any acting ability in a straight role (I actually thought she was good in Evita...shoot me, but she did not need to talk). So, if instincts kick back in and she has a good director, she may be fine. I would hope that a positive shot in the arm might give her a chance to head in a more fruitful direction in the future. She still in only in her 20s after all

She isn't. She's been living in London for two months now. Sucks for you!

She hasn't been sober her entire time in London but I think this play will be great for her. She needs a strict schedule and she needs someone to answer to. Can't wait to see her in this. It will probably end up being an iconic performance.

All true. I believe her last "serious" big budget studio (but not good) film was "Georgia Rules" in which she gave a solid performance which was an accomplishment in itself considering the mixed up writing. (Ditto for Jane Fonda and Felicity Huffman's performances) She came up with a crop of about 10 other young actresses which included Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman both of whom have won Academy Awards and yet it was always clear to me that she was the superior actress. It's tragic the turn her life has taken and its a turn that I believe she can only blame on herself.

No hate from me, though I think it's extremely unprofessional. I find it incredibly sad that she can't seem to pull things together. But you shouldn't be surprised that others take perverse joy in human failings. Schadenfreude is a stock-in-trade of the world.

Perhaps the "hate" should be directed at producers who take an interesting piece of theatre and ensure it will fail by using an actress who has shown no likelihood of handling the role. It isn't a big part, but in a three-hander, every part is a big part. I feel sorry for her costars.

Based on the reports it seems that she flubbed some lines and giggled whenever she got lost. No excuse for the giggles but I've seen first nights where actors with years of experience went up on lines or forgot a lyric. She looks healthy in the rehearsal pics I've seen and she sounds genuinely happy to be working on the show. Let's face it, Karen is a ****ty role but I'm pulling for LL.

Gosh, people were dropping lines at the first preview. Shocking! But seriously, word is that Lindsay Posner has not done an especially strong job of directing the production and obviously LL would need a strong director in making her stage debut. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and hoping she succeeds.

Wilmingtom, with all due respect, I hope you can understand the difference between an actor missing a line or two at the first preview, and the leading actress being fed line after line from the wings WHILE she is also consulting the script in her hand!

I wasn't at the performance so I can't comment. Nor do I believe everything I read. All I'm saying is that I'm not the type to write someone off after a first preview.

As a matter of fact I've had the same experience on Broadway, with seasoned actors. Apparently there is nothing less forgivable than being a fallen star. Take a look at Lohan's first films. She was a natural and they weren't even that long ago.

I hope that she can pull off a Robert Downey Jr. She's talented.

Me too. This is her first stage experience ever...and she is obviously under a much stronger microscope than other newbies. People are just waiting and expecting her to fail..lots of pressure for sure.

I appreciate she had the guts to try and wish her the best...and will give her some slack too.

Lohan was on track to become the Jennifer Lawrence of ten years ago- combination sellable star, genuinely gifted actress and sex symbol. Then the drugs and partying got out of control, and what talent she had has never QUITE come back the same way. I don't know if you can lose talent, but her spark has been gone in the things I've seen her in since her attempt at comeback.

Given that her last film was a "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" soft-core throwback, perhaps she's more at home in "Plow the Speed Freak" than "Speed the Plow."
