For the first time to my knowledge, The Lion King is up at TKTS today for 20% off.
And I thought I would never live to see the day this would end up happening.

Nah, save that for when Hamilton first appears on TKTS.

Have there ever been discount codes for WICKED?
My granddaughter attends school in Wisconsin and her class trip is to NYC in March. As it turns out, they will be seeing WICKED on her 17th birthday. Not only do I plan to be there with her birthday gift but I'm "Putting my hand in there" and bringing a fine young man I know to join us for dinner and the show in Hope's that they hit it off. Of course I'd like to save a few dollars on the tickets if possible.
Wicked and Lion King are both participating in 2-for-1 week.
On a related note, I was shocked by how much inventory there was for Book of Mormon during Broadway Week. Pre-pandemic, you'd never see that. I wonder if it was the social uprising, the press regarding the changes, or simply lost momentum?

Honestly think the show has run it's course.
Most shows are suffering. The average theater goer knows nothing about the rewrites due to backlash.
And early on Wicked was at TKTS....I got my tix, back in the day from there. Possibly during previews.. but very early on.

I got my LION KING ticket at TKTS when it was in previews. Afterwards I was raving about the show to people who had no idea what I was talking about.

As a (soon to be former) teenager, please don't try to set your granddaughter up on her birthday LMAO. I feel I speak for most teens when I say that I would far prefer a 1 on 1 dinner with my Grandparents.

Have to agree this sounds dreadful.
When purchasing as TKTS do they allow you to choose your seats from whatever they have available or do they just assign it to you?

As a ticketing agent back in the day, Wicked was such a hard sell when it first opened. A prequel, with not the greatest reviews, as much as I was practically begging them, "Trust me, it's one you/your clients are going to want to see now..." Cut to the day after the Tony Awards, and I had to tell those same people they had to wait months. And I had the same issue with early days of Jersey Boys, Hamilton, so many others.

It is your decision, of course, but if she is traveling in from Wisconsin, why not take that time for just the two of you at dinner? And it sounds like the guy mat be from here so it will be one evening and she will return to Wisconsin and maybe meet someone else. Also, she is seeing WICKED. Two female characters bonding in friendship with each other. Kind of a perfect night just for you and her to spend together. Just my opinion.

Very sweet and well-meaning, but unless she or he is planning to start something long-distance, or there are plans for her to come to NYC for school or vice versa, why take time from spending it with her? Especially with the pandemic I'm sure taking time away from being able to see her over the last two years. Also, in this day and age, it's time to think about just sending their socials to each other, or a 3-way Facetime.

They usually give you what they think is the best available, but you can ask for seats in a certain location. Doesn't mean they'll be there

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. I just can't help but think my granddaughter and this boy are meant for each other. I'll give your advice careful consideration before I take action.
You know better than a bunch of internet strangers anyways Dolly! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time with your granddaughter regardless.

Got orchestra for 87 at tkts. This show is sustained on tourists because most everyone has seen it in the local area at this point and with omicron those tourists dropped like a rock and cancelled.. But yea my favorite show maybe ever. I will say being in tkts did manage to sell most of the rest of the seats as it seemed to recover to a solid sell out at least in the orch. But yea if you know the disney cartel you can recognize a discount.
