I'm going to audition for Audrey in Little Shop in roughly two weeks, but I'm not entirely sure what kind of piece I should do for it. My voice teacher gave me several options, but do any of you have suggestions?
One of Audrey's numbers is "Somewhere That's Green." It is peaceful, sweet, hopeful and gentle number. Try looking at songs that give off the same moods.
Something that shows that you can sing up in the scale as well as low... probably something that is also fun, so you can play up the comedy. I can't think of any songs at the moment though, lol, I'm no help.
This is probably bad advice, but I have always though of Audrey and Adelaide as very similar.
So maybe 'Adelaides Lament' from GUYS AND DOLLS?
How about Adelaide's Lament from Guys and Dolls?
lol.....we both posted at about the same time.
Ah well....great minds...

How about Home from Beauty and the Beast It gives off a pretty good range and it's a beautiful song

How about "Part of Your World" from "Little Mermaid". Its by the same composer and some melodic fragments from "Somewhere Thats Green" are found in POYW.
