I'd like to line up for tomorrow night's show. It'd be my first time and was wondering what a good time would be. Thanks!

Yea, Tuesday night was a bad night for dropped mics and bad audience behavior... If that BITCH took out her phone one more time. I kept flicking pieces of business cards at her until she got the hint to PUT THE PHONE AWAY!!!! only took a half hour. And she kept looking around like "who is throwing $hit at me. I am not doing anything wrong." Stupid freaking people.
I saw the flashing over by gate 1 and was wondering how long that was going to last. OI would have killed some one for the flashing. the texting was bad enough. but some one taking flash photos is where I get really pissed off. That is when my water goes splashing on your phone or device. OOPS SORRY!!! BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Does anyone know what the standby line has been like?
I'm wondering what time is appropriate to get there as of late.

Posted: 8/4/13 at 9:08pmThey have apparently been able to get most of the standby line in. I walked by there at around 6, there were at least 150 people.

Caught this last night; I'm not sure how I feel about this one. The show is so ridiculously silly/campy that I couldn't help but like it... but the material really wasn't of the greatest caliber leaving the hardworking actors with very little to do... actually that's my biggest complaint. The cast is so talented yet none of the characters get enough development (except for maybe Colin Donnell's character). Rebecca Naomi Jones is incredible, as is Patti Murin, yet again, I wish the show drew these characters out a lot more (all the women were really shortchanged).
I liked the music more than I expected to and of course the set/lighting were stunning. I found myself smiling most of the evening even though it's clear that it still needs work.
Is there any chance of a transfer for this one? I'm interested to see what the reviews look like as I expect them to be mixed at best.
after thought: I know Broadway shows always have good looking actors, but I couldn't help but notice that every single actor in this production is especially beautiful. Random, I know, I just feel like it had to be said.

Posted: 8/6/13 at 11:10amHow has the line been recently? I want to do it tomorrow. I was thinking of getting there around 8:00-8:30. Does that sound good if I want to be closer to the front of the line?

Posted: 8/6/13 at 11:16amI got there at 8:30 this past Friday and was about #250 in line according to the count by the line monitors.

Posted: 8/6/13 at 3:54pmSince this is an original musical, does anyone think there is a chance of a cast recording being done? I'd be first in line to buy it.

Posted: 8/7/13 at 12:59pmClyde, we rarely agree, But I would be right behind you to get the OCR. I am dying to see this again. Hoping they will flesh it out a little more and transfer to Broadway. Give RNJ more to do. She is almost totally wasted in the show.

Saw the show tonight and I absolutely loved it! It was clever and hilarious and has a killer cast. I also really enjoyed the score and the set.
For those who might be wondering, I was there at 7:15 today and I was about 50th in line.

I saw it tonight as well and got in line at 10:30 on a whim and easily got tickets; people who joined after noon got tickets. One of the Public employees said it was the shortest line she's seen since previews began, but I assume it's because it was supposed to rain (luckily the weather cooperated with the exception of a few minute drizzle that didn't affect the show at all!)
*SPOILER ALERT*
I'm not sure if it's that the show has tightened or changed since previews began, the fact that I had diminished expectations based on comments here, or tastes are just different, but I had a pretty good time. The cast is uniformly good with Caesar Samayoa and Rebecca Naomi Jones as the clear standouts. I found myself in stitches almost every time Patii Murin was leading a scene, but she's given so little to do. Rebecca Naomi Jones is also incredibly underused.
It's definitely not Timbers' best work though I thought Friedman's score, while far from brilliant, served the show well and some of the lyrics were very clever. The set and lighting are beautifully done. I could have definitely done without some of the annoying attempted "ironic because we're self-aware campiness" like the marching band, confetti, segues, cheerleaders, and angel outfits, but I don't think it took too much from the show. I don't know why this was attempted when all of the other actual jokes landed far better.
The show flew by and I enjoyed myself!

Posted: 8/8/13 at 1:43amGchris, I will just in case, though I really spoiled just about nothing (besides a few campy bits that have been discussed many times in this thread) and given that it was a preview "review," I thought the spoiler was sort of implied.

Posted: 8/8/13 at 2:17amI did the standby line for this past Saturday evening performance. I got there just before 6pm and was surprised at how short the line was. There were maybe 25-30 people ahead of me. By the time they started giving out tickets the line was still pretty short compared to other shows I've waited for. I didn't count, but I saw that everyone got in before the show started. I even ended up with a front row center seat! (I've actually gotten a front row seat five times from the standby line!)

Posted: 8/9/13 at 1:33pmAt 1pm today the Public posted on Facebook that they still had tickets. I'm guessing it's because of the approaching storms tonight.

Posted: 8/10/13 at 7:04pmAfter reading this thread, I'm still a bit confused on what this show is. It's an original score, but includes a famous pop/rock song? And it's an adaptation of a Shakespeare play set in 2008 at a class reunion? Even if someone can PM what it's about to not release any spoilers. Lol. Interesting cast, though. About to watch the highlights video and listen to some of the music on the website. Unfortunately, I've never sn or read the original play.

The book is, more or less, Shakespeare's text.
The score and lyrics are contemporary, as is the setting.
It's basically just a Shakespeare production that's been done in a contemporary setting, but with a blatently contemporary score and with a lot more irony.

Just to clarify something, the show is set in 2013. It's during the 5 year reunion for the Class of '08.
Here's my stab at a song list. The order isn't totally right and I don't know the actual names of some of the songs (denoted with a *).
Young Men
Hey Boys
He Thinks, She Thinks* (Andrew Durand song)
I Love Cats*
Jaquenetta
Rich People
He Thinks, He Thinks (Justin Levine version)
Change of Heart

Dumaine Song*
Longaville Song*
Are You a Man?
It's Not Good Idea
To Be With You (Mr. Big)

Posted: 8/11/13 at 1:44amThe song you named "A Very Good Idea" is actually titled "It's Not a Good Idea", as seen in the video on playbill.com. And I think "I'm a Princess" comes before "The Tuba Song."

"The Owl & The Cuckoo"
As this bloated, witless farrago was (finally!) nearing its end, a character announced that we were now to hear the song of "'The Owl and the Cuckoo." To which news the people around me responded with a collective groan.
That provided the sole genuine laugh of the evening.
