Posted: 8/11/13 at 10:53pmHow is the standby line for opening night at the Delacorte? Are there more tickets or less tickets than usual? Do you have to get on the line in the morning to have a chance or is an hour or two before curtain good?

Lucky enough to win the online lottery twice and loved it even more the second time. I hated Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, but this score and cast won me over. I thought it was one of the most enjoyable evenings I've had at the Delacorte.
I hope there is a recording.

Brantey is mixed.
...and unaware that "To Be With You" was, in fact, not written by Michael Friedman.
"Yet — aside from a blissful parody of a One Direction-like boy band led by Mr. Donnell and a pop power ballad sung by Rebecca Naomi Jones as a barmaid — Mr. Friedman’s tuneful songs come across as frustratingly incomplete, like clever sketches for complete portraits."

Posted: 8/13/13 at 12:32amWow - I just listened to "Love's A Gun" on the Shakespeare in the Park website and I really, really enjoyed it. When was Lindsay Mendez involved with the show?

They've had readings of it over the past couple years.
"Love's a Gun" is the best song in the score.

Posted: 8/13/13 at 1:07amBen Brantley is so hacky he takes the time for some reason to involve Joss Whedons version of Much Ado but calls him Josh Whedon.

"Love's a Gun" is the best song in the score.
I would wager it was already written, saved from another project, and pluged into this. Nothing else comes close to its Sondheim-Ian beauty.

A wholly-to-be-expected highly favorable set of revews, with out-and-out adulation from the usual suspects. The pretentiousness of some of these "analyses" made me laugh --- and cringe. You know a show is going to be unendurable the minute you see it described with terms like "meta," "po mo," and "deconstruct."
Here's a toughie: What's worse --- an aggressively stupid, "gee-look-how-clever-I-am" junior-high-smart-ass musical or the dumb-asses that fawn over it?

Posted: 8/13/13 at 11:37amIt's so nice that you can't just express your distaste for something once but instead continue to harp on it. We get that you don't like it. That's great. Now move on to the next show you hate.

Posted: 8/13/13 at 12:47pmIs there anyone who has seen this recently (after the show was ‘set’) who also saw it early in previews? I am interested to hear if much/any has been changed? (Based off reviews and accounts, I haven’t been able to detect any…I was truly hoping they would cut the cat song, but that seems to still be there.)

Posted: 8/13/13 at 3:28pmI thought the cat song was hilarious, and it also led to one of the funniest sight gags in the show, which I won't spoil in case it hasn't already been revealed.

Posted: 8/13/13 at 3:55pmCould someone who's gone on a Saturday please give a line status update? I'm visiting from Boston to see it this weekend. Is 9:00 too late to be guaranteed tickets?

I saw it the second week of previews and then again on Sat night. The show seemed to have been frozen since there were critics in the audience.
There weren't any major changes. Most of them were related to Costard and the Professors. Costard's wig (dreads vs. surfer shag) has been in flux. When Rachel Dratch is reading the letter Jaquenetta received that's been changed. Dull used to pull a pizza slice from the jacuzzi and now it's a Krispy Kreme box. All of these were more for comedic purposes than anything.
In terms of the line, since it's going to be the day before the last show I would say 9am won't guarantee you tickets. My guess would be 7am if you want to be safe.

Posted: 8/15/13 at 4:42pmnot sure how helpful this is, but a friend lined up this morning at 6:15 and there were already 50 people ahead of her.

Thanks! Did she get in?
Yes, she would have. Hundreds of tickets are given out to the line. It does vary depending on performance but I've never heard of fewer than 100 tickets being given out unless it was already stated tickets would be in limited supply for opening nights, galas, etc.

Wicked, I would recommend getting to the standing room line by 4pm on Fri and probably earlier on Sat. It's the last couple days of the show so if you don't wanna take chances I'd probably play it safe.
Here's my updated stab at a song list. The order isn't totally right and I don't know the actual names of some of the songs (denoted with a *).
Young Men
Hey Boys
Exhibit A* (Andrew Durand version)
Exhibit B*
I Love Cats*
Jaquenetta
Exhibit C* (Justin Levine version)
Rich People
Change of Heart
Love's a Gun
King Song*
Dumaine's Sonnet*
Ode to Katharine*
Are You a Man?
It's Not Good Idea
To Be With You (Mr. Big)
Rosaline Song*
I Don't Need Love
The Tuba Song
The Owl & The Cuckoo

Delacorte post-opening runs tend to be very short.
Yes, it will be closing this week and I doubt highly it will extend.
