Well it’s time for you to be banned. Or is that racist?"
I mean it's typical of a white person to try to police what makes them uncomfortable so...yes. Banned for what un-evolved soul?"
Isn't that exactly what you are trying to do with Patti LuPone? For way less than the bile you spewed in the last 15 minutes or so alone.

Holding racist behavior accountable is not the same as policing Black bodies and our every action in this country.

I am Black and I will and have always viewed the world, even this lil insane ass message board I have loved for decades through THAT lens. Calling out white supremacy thought, racist ideology, and micro-aggressive action and behaviors is not policing you. Being Black is never ever ever ever a reduction of anything. SH*T is dangerous but it's lit though!!!

Asking you for the 3rd time what was the racist thing Patti LuPone did or said?
(Also, what you did manage to get censored for was by far the most outwardly racist thing in this entire thread, so kudos for that.)

I am Black. I cannot be racist. I could however be prejudice because words mean things, but I cannot be racist by definition. I know it made you deeply uncomfortable and that was the point but again me embodying an enslaved ancestor to make fun of you CANNOT BE RACIST. ooo that tickles me.
For the final time, calling a Black woman a bitch and comparing your veteran status to hers to only diminish her and inaccurately at that as a old white woman IS racist. Inherently so. Calling anything Black "too loud" has racial implications and often got our ancestors killed, so yes no matter context, it is micro aggressive and has racial implications. To say Audra should know better implies that Black people should behave, react, respond in a way that white society deems appropriate which is ****** disgusting to say the least. this is just the tip of the iceberg, I don't have time to explain to you all the ways. Things said to white people by white people are not racist. When you say things to Black people, Black women without thought, without understanding of LIVED EXPERIENCE, you will often step into and find prejudice and racism inherent in the conversation. Doesn't matter if you don't understand it or not.

These include:
Disinviting LuPone from the Tonys this year and for several years
Requiring a public apology to Lewis, McDonald, and AEA
Commit to holding artists accountable in upholding the dignity of other industry members
It's currently signed by over 300 names, including some Tony nominees, and growing as we speak. Should be published tomorrow. Very curious if this is something that will actually, finally, get Patti to apologize. She likely won't, but I've never seen folks mobilize like this."
As someone who can agree that Patti's comments were crass, unnecessary, and problematic, I still think that this culture of *demanding* apologies and respect from people is so deeply, deeply disempowering. Not to mention (though less important) that many signatures on demands like this are easy and hollow - and usually result in hollow apologies if they result in apologies at all... We have delved so far into an era where form is prioritized over essence and where self-soothing and even seeking and getting support from people and community who value and validate isn't sufficient. I understand wanting things along the lines of understanding and apology etc. But this is veering into need territory that is super disempowering and, imo, ironically conveying a helplessness rather than a strength.

Take that up with your therapist honey, I don't have time for white fragility and white feelings and white tears. They feed my ancestors and give me energy for this soul trip. Insult you for being white? No, now you might be insulted for being obtuse, but not white. Yes I make fun of white people alllll the time, any real ass down for the cause white person is not bothered by that. Again, go talk to the lady about your feelings I don't care. I center Black feelings first.

I stopped reading there. Thanks for at least saving me the time.
I think if the league or AEA gets involved; Lupone will lawyer up and raise her middle finger a little higher.

I'm really not trying to start anything here, but for the sake of the "words mean things" argument, you absolutely can be racist towards other groups of color that you are not a part of. I agree that reverse racism isn't real, but saying because you're black you can't be racist "by definition" to somebody who is asian (for example) is incorrect. Not what you were saying, etc etc etc, but specificity with words especially when talking about race is super important.

Okay, I hear you and to be clear I don't think you are trying to start anything at all. Racism isn’t just personal bias thats prejudice — it’s bias backed by institutional, systemic power. It involves the ability to enforce and maintain dominance over another group through laws, policies, media, education, policing, housing, healthcare, etc. In the the good ole usa and many western societies, racism is structured around white supremacy — the historical and ongoing elevation of white people over others.
Black people in the U.S. (and in other white-dominant societies) do not control the systems of power — law enforcement, courts, media narratives, education standards, corporate leadership, political systems — in ways that would allow them to oppress other racial groups. Therefore, while a Black person can hold prejudices, they cannot uphold or benefit from a system of racism designed to favor Black people over others — because such a system does not exist. Is what I mean when I say I am Black I cannot be racist, I can however be prejudice.
