Unsettled Scores from Whistle Down the Wind, a beast of a song

My Defenses Are Down from "Annie Get Your Gun" is a possible choice. The tempo might be a little faster then what one would traditionally think of a ballad, but I think it still counts (plus it has a pretty good range and isn't overdone).
A World Without You goes up to an A flat. There is the tricky one near the end where you have to come in cold on the high A flat and then in the last bar or so but its more of a progression. Hope that helps.
Dont sing Barrett's Song unless you are a convincing Stoker. Its all relative.. I would never use Proud Lady as I would just make the panel laugh! Some of us are more Amos than Billy Flynn

I have a range of G2 to F#4 - any of these recommended songs fit that range? I often find with most songs I try and sing go above my top note and require power, something I can't do. Prime example being Make them hear you. One of my favourite songs, but goes up to a G and I just can't hit that! Broadway singers have annoyingly huge ranges! Damn you all for being good!
What does a range of G2-F#4 mean?
can anyone provide me with MP3's with songs that you suggested? if you can
I saw someone do "The Fountain" from SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS and was blown away...there's a major money note toward the end. Also has some nice levels / emotional range.
Bugger. well you need to get that G sorted out as most contemporary roles or anything written since the 80s usually go up to a G or G# for baritones or even higher for tenors. Hate those lables but they are useful short hand
However if you look further back into the catalogue you can find a few songs that would suit your range.
How about "Lonely Town" from On the Town or "If I Sing" from Closer Than Ever?. Nice ballads that show off a good range and muscianship.

I've always thought "Marry Me" from The Rink was a great male ballad. I haven't heard it recently enough to remember how much range it requires though.
What about Taboo, something recent?
Tons of male songs, Petrified, Out of Fashion (done solo on the LBC),I See Through You or Stranger in This World, along with a bunch of others.

everythingtaboo - there's no voice book for that show, so there's no way to get the sheet music without doing some serious digging.
Does anyone have the song "A world without you" from Children of Eden? or "Stay" from Do you hear a Waltz?
"Coalhouse's Soliloquoy" from RAGTIME
