Like, yes, congrats to all those Broadway debuts, but my desire went from "my must see" to "no reason to catch this" if I could see it on tour in my hometown. I want to see someone like SJB and McKenzie Kurtz or someone to eat this score and book down. I just feel as though my interest has drained on this one."
Same. I bought tickets expecting an all star cast. Now I wish I had skipped this all together. I didn't go when the tour came to my hometown because I didn't recognize anyone in the cast. I feel kind of cheated if the plan was always to have the touring cast play Broadway. Why didn't they just include that detail when they first announced it was coming back?
My review on page one of this thread is still my thoughts months later, but now with the cast announcement I am a bit worried about the physical production.
The cast is fantastic and Christine is literally one of my favorite Donna’s I’ve ever seen; but this is the entire tour cast which would lead me to believe the entire tour set will be loaded into the Winter Garden for this sit-down; which would be heartbreaking. I know nobody comes to Mamma Mia! for the set or spectacle, but the tour set doesn’t hold a candle to the original Winter Garden set. Hopefully Mark Thompson has some ideas (and a budget) to spruce up this run, because $400 ticket prices for a 2nd National Touring set that’s 20+ years old really bums me out.

This is selling extremely well. There’s a sigh that says strictly limited engagement on the marquee, but any chance they will extend? Or is the Winter Garden booked for the spring ?

I'm 1000% with you on this, I think it's basically certain this will have the touring set. Why would they pay even $1 more when people are perfectly happy to see it with any version of the set?

They’re doing Sunday evening performances at 6:30 instead of Wednesday evenings.
I would love to see some design enhancements for the Broadway sit down, but my expectation is that they will just be plopping the tour set into the Winter Garden. Oh well, it will still be fun to have this on Broadway again for a little while!
looks like majority of the cast will be making their Broadway debuts.
Why would anyone expect producers (specifically in the year 2025) to instill physical production changes for a six month engagement? Everything today is about keeping costs down as much as possible.
If Disney isn’t willing to put forward the money for the same set pieces they toured all around the world BATB with for the last few years, it’s not happening for Mamma Mia. The Wiz didn’t do anything different either.
$49 digital lottery launches on Friday, and $45 in-person rush begins Saturday.
Expect slim pickings, especially for the first month or two.
