Louise Pitre was in her early 40s when she opened MAMMA MIA. And despite having silver hair - that is the age she looked.

Sophie - I hate to say it, but RIGHT NOW I'd go for Lindsay Lohan.

I'm a huge fan of Mamma Mia and am very excited for the movie. It won't win any oscars but it's just great entertainment. Meryl Streep seems like an interesting pick. It'll help give the show star power. How old is she? She seems like she's a bit too old (Donna should be low 40s), but otherwise she seems good. She looks the part. Likewise, Olivia would have suited the role.
I only hope they don't just pick a trendy Sophie like Lindsay Lohan or Hilary Dufff. I'm interested in hearing who they pick for the other parts..especially Sam, Sophie, Sky, Tanya and Rosie.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I honestly would rather not see Cher as Tanya. Cher's great and all, but with all the work she's had done, she is just scary to look at. Though she's not a big name, I would LOVE to see Christine Baranski as Tanya. That would be a hoot!

Dont count Madonna out of the project yet?

A UK Morning TV show was talking about streep playing donna and the guy on the show said he had heard that Madonna had been offered the part of Tanya but hassn't given an answer as yet.

Okay can I just say that as much as I love Streep...and I do... I am HEARTBROKEN that Olivia Newton John isn't doing it. She simply IS Donna -her essence, her look...absolutely perfect.
And to think that she wanted to do it but wasn't given the chance - ugghhh!!

How ironic would it be for Meryl and Madonna to star in a film together, considering that Meryl was passed over for EVITA. I remember reading a quote from Meryl at the time----when asked how her performance as Evita would've differed from Madonna's, she replied, "Well, for one thing, I can sing." Ouch!

I think Streep is a great choice, she can really hit those high notes. I like the idea of Goldie Hawn as Tanya and Bette Middler as Rosie. But, I wouldn't mind to see Rosie as Rosie.
