His last role on broadway was almost 20 years ago and in my opinion, thats just not acceptable. His voice always makes me weak in the knees and Id love to see him get another great role.

I agree. However, this reminded me of Brent Carver who basically disappeared from the Broadway stage after Parade. I thought he was phenomenal in both Kiss of the Spiderwoman and Parade and then sort of vanished back to Canada. What ever happened to him?
But more on topic, Barrett should come back. What a voice!

Agreed. Brent is not only talented, but he's a great human being too.
His was the best Phantom I've ever seen... Beautifully sung, wonderfully physical, great acting choices. His performance with Sierra Boggess in the Vegas company was perfection. It was that production (and their performances) that made me actually enjoy the show.
He's been doing a lot of local Vegas on-the-strip shows. Look for him at what used to be Cleopatra's Barge at Caesars. He also pops up with the symphony, the 'phantom tenors' and at various benefits around Sin City.

Was that the most recent tour? I think I saw the previous tour with Howard McGillin, but I'm not too sure now. I don't think I've ever seen Brent Barrett in anything other than the filmed version of Kiss Me, Kate. He was excellent in that and, of course, the Grand Hotel cast album.

I don’t think Grand Hotel has ever been revived on Broadway despite its artistic and commercial success. I enjoyed the Encore’s production and I’m pretty sure the original must have been quite superior.
I don’t tire of watching the Tony performance with Brent and Michael Jeter of Let’s Raise a Glass. It’s so joyous. Are Brent and Jane too old to reprise?
By a small margin I preferred Brent and Rachel York in the London revival of Kiss Me, Kate. Don’t think we’ll see that one again soon.

Here is that wonderful video clip of Brent Barrett (Allen) in "Grand Hotel" at the Tony Awards. I actually saw him as Billy Flynn in February 2018 in Fort Worth. He was very good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoB0CSsrrCo&list=RDJoB0CSsrrCo&start_radio=1

Not sure if you have seen this, but if you like him, here he is with Lonny Price and a bunch of other B'way guys and gals from a long time ago. This might have been around his WSS days.

Thank you for posting this. I love to see videos from this decade, as I would have been a college student in 1982.

Indeed Brent should be back on the NY stage! What a voice and a generous man-- who last year met with the first graders at PS212 as part of their Jerry Herman study to discuss his role in La Cage and sing the song "Look Over There" thrillingly to the children.

Yeah, it hasn't been nearly 20 years since he was on Broadway. I saw him as Billy Flynn about 5 years ago in Chicago

Thanks, Patti for Let's Raise a Glass. Always happy to see it.
I haven't seen a lot of the Charleston but I've found what I've seen of it fascinating.
What an inspired idea to have the chorus doing that mesmerizing Charleston in the background.

Yeah, as I said above I didn’t realize he’d been back in 2014.

My first experience seeing Brent was when he was on All my Children and he came to Ogunquit Maine to do Jesus Christ Superstar...and I was shocked by his voice...beautiful...saw him in Chicago and met him at the door and he was sooo nice and friendly...I agree he should be a huge star...and he could still play Phantom ..not the stage manager WTF comment was that comment for ..

Managed to see him on 3 memorable occasions:
1) In a free concert of Kern's Sunny at Orchestra Hall in Chicago; Summer 1989
2) As the Baron in Grand Hotel; Chicago 1991, and
3) In Buskers with Tommy Tune; Houston, July 1995.
