Mariah Carey "developing" Musical...

As much as I have complained about "All Shook UP" and "Good Vibrations", those shows seem to be Picasso compared to the crap Mariah Carey is going to try to inflict on us. I just read on Eonline that she is developing a Broadway "musical" for next December, based on her "Merry Christmas" album. Has it really come to this? Uck. I'd rather see a stage adaptation of "Glitter"...Sad.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 12:00pmI'm defending her right to do it. It's not like everything else out there is such high quality.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 2:03pmThis is just wrong. She ought to go to Vegas and join Celine. At least Celine had the decency not to sully Broadway with ick.

Mariah's 1994 Christmas Album is one of the BEST christmas CDs made by a pop star in recent history. I wouldnt oppose a run of it next year on broadway. its obviously going to be a limited run.... why would a christmas show run in june?
we can't deem her less talented because she's "not a theatre person" Look at Taboo- george's score is beautifully written and he's far more washed up than Mariah. It bothers me that people under estimate people's ability just because they havent done theatre before....
Did anyone expect Jackman to be the musical theatre wonder he is?

I loved the album when it came out, and still listen to it around this time of year. I loved her way back when she first started.
The first time I heard "Vision of Love", I literally stopped what I was doing and just stared at the radio. But then later she got all "jiggy".
I would love to stage the "All I Want For Christmas" number though. A grand entrance, then a break away outfit with a 60's bell dress under that. Pogo, woman!
Okay, I'm scaring myself now.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 2:54pmWe aren't discounting her, just her musical. Well, I wasn't discounting her anyway... I think she is an excellent singer, but can't she just do a concert? Even if she wanted to do it on Broadway, I'm sure one theater will be open next Christmas season.
