I actually think it could be a great idea.

I wish they would go ahead and announce it already!! Alice has been alluding to going on tour for months on her fb page. Not really alluding but recently someone said they would bring her gifts if the tour came near where they lived and she replied asking where they lived. If that doesn't say, "I'll see you there!", I don't know what does.
In any case, I think this works out great for everyone. Marin Mazzie will be an awesome Diana and more people will get to see Alice in her Tony-award winning role!

Posted: 5/25/10 at 1:16pmIt's easy to see why they would go with 3 time Tony nominee Marin Mazzie over somebody with two Broadway credits like Julia Murney. Nothing against Murney, but it just makes sense to me. I'm not saying Mazzie will be a draw, but she just seems like a better choice.

If they market it correctly, it can be. How many people out there get to see an original company member in their Tony-winning performance? If I were a theatre fanatic in middle America, I would buy my tickets immediately. I'm not saying it would make the show mainstream, but they'd certainly do better business than with a complete no-name.
