According to wikipedia, Mazzie (b. 1960) is only about 3 years older than Ripley (b. 1963).
And while we're googling:

I third (or fourth) the notion that a well trained singer can sing anything! Marin and Jason would be PHENOMENAL!
and too old? possibly but all the actors just listed look DAMN good for their age and I wouldn't have thought pushing 50 at all, especiall a few rows back in a theatre.

Wow. Hopefully she is, but it does seem kind of spontanious...I didn't know she was eve in talks for the role. O_o
I think if it happens, it'll bring a very different draw to the show. I actually think her and Norbert would be a good match, considering Norbert was in the workshop (then called "Feeling Electric") and they had great chemistry in Enron. Needless to say, Norbert was really incredible in the workshop...but the likelihood that we'd get both of them would be slim after Enron :3
Although I've heard great things about Alice's understudy, just to add.

If Marin goes into this show, I will be there multiple times. She is a true star and would do wonders with this role. I love her so much.
She and Jason together would be heaven.

And vocally, Daniely as the Doctors makes a lot more sense. I also imagine the scenes where Diana envisions herself being attracted to her doctors will be quite funny when Marin does it opposite her real life husband.
