For those of you who have visited: I was hoping to see Hugh Panaro as the phantom next month and now that doesn't seem to be the case, I am wondering should I still book? (the ticket prices in my mind are quite steep, I am wondering if I should wait until there might be someone in it that I really want to see. or is the spectacle and show itself something that I should not miss)
Also any "spoilers" on how anyone can score some of the little letters or handouts?
I would love any insight or advice.

The show is the star in this one. Absolutely worth seeing if you're at all a fan of the original - delightful, engaging and impressive (if a tad campy at times.) Panaro is wonderful, but my favorite Phantom of the ones I have seen is Kyle Scatliffe in the 7 pm pulse - utterly captivating and very worth the ticket price. A number of people also rave about Clay Singer's Phantom (which I haven't seen).
Letters and handouts are handed out at random to the audience. Only six or seven are given out over the course of the show. It depends a little bit on where you are seated in a given scene, but it's not an exact science. I'm sure the energy an audience member gives the actors plays a role - be engaged, be responsive, but don't "try" to get one (ie, don't be pushy.). Unlike something like Sleep No More, there's not a ton of special one-on-one interactions (I know of two that happen if the actor decides to make it happen) but I strongly recommend it.

People have been discussing the show here. There is a discussion about Hugh's schedule also.

Hugh Panaro is the only Broadway Phantom to have been cast in the title role in this production, and I was a bit surprised that he took it and am not surprised that he's leaving already (he's in his 60s). None of the others are big Broadway names or have any history with the original production, so I don't anticipate replacements being household names whom you'll "really want to see". If you want someone from the Broadway production, the best you can do is to buy a ticket and hope that Jeremy Stolle is on due to a callout.
Regarding the handouts, I can tell you that the person seated immediately at the left side of the piano in the dressing room scene is likely to receive the note from Christine. Also, in the freak show scene, most of the attendee attention will focus on the performers; if you can work your way to the cage at the left side of the room and interact with the "young" Phantom in it, he will likely give you one of his handmade twine bracelets and a crumpled note from his mother.

Also just to clarify, you can't really choose your seating, as the butlers (as they're called) kind of direct you to sit in specific spots. So it just really depends what order you come in. I think engagement level does help, since some of them aren't always based on seating, and the freak show scene is the "easiest" to manipulate yourself into getting something since you determine where you want to stand (I was able to get a note the second time because no one else seemed interested in interacting with the cage in my pulse and I knew that it was there).

My experience was very similar.

With the recent departure of some leads, does anyone know the Phantom/Christine casting for each pulse now?

I would say that $200 ish per person is a very fair price for this experience.

Reddit post with the current schedule, note that in the comments, there's been a switch-up.

Thanks for this! I had heard that Ryan was at 7:30pm and Quentin was at 8:15pm, so glad to see the comments after the original post.

Happy to help! I was looking to see Ryan, so I saw that update just in time to request a ticket swap.

Have you seen him yet? If so, what did you think?

I mentioned this on Reddit, but I'm biased since I've been a fan of Ryan's since I saw him perform in Paramour, so I loved his portrayal. I know there's been talk about his relative youth, but to me I lent well that the scars, so to speak, were fresh, so his tears and his frayed edges felt fresher also, and the youth worked because while not as tall as a lot the other actors, he was agile and it felt dangerous, that he really could just be anywhere.

Any opinions on what might be the best entry time on Sunday matinees?

But most importantly, how were his big notes in "Music of the Night", i.e., "Let your soul take you where you long to BE!" and "Help me make the music of the night..."? ![]()

All are essentially identical, apart from the performers who play the Phantom and Christine, so it really depends on which pair has the vocal skills and presentation that will work for you. IMHO, a couple of the Phantoms are far too young for the role, and their voices are too "light". I just googled videos of them singing other material to get an idea as to how they may handle these roles and made my choice based on what I saw/heard.
