Shame to see this closing.
At the end of the day, running costs are the true decision makers.

NO! I just saw it in Chicago, and I won't be in NY for a another year!!! Wonderful show. How sad.

I bet the producers are hitting themselves for not having one Matilda, but I understand the need for the 4.

I've been hearing whispers about this... running costs are just too high. Same boat Billy Elliot was in. Also, the Dodgers are apparently closing it so they can put A BRONX TALE in the Schubert Theatre.

Why would having had one Matilda make any difference? Not arguing..just curious about what you meant..

Three less people you have to pay.

Its about time, one of the worst Bway shows I had ever seen, cant believe it lasted this long, get rid of this nonsense and lets hope for a good show at this Flagship Theatre. Sorry Tinkerbelle

Lets talk about if this comment was necessary or not? Did it really contribute to the conversation? No. Was it nice or at least a productive criticism? No.
Matilda changed a lot of people's lives, can't we have at least 24 hours to mourn in peace before grumpy jerks start commenting rude stuff about the show?

All that he had to say was that he did not care for it. The ratcheting up of that was neither needed or necessary. Contrary to some thinking, all voices need to be heard at any time .Most liked it but some did not. That's life.

It's very safe to say this show has a solid fan base; i'm one of them. I've seen the show a lot, and I know others who have. I'm excited to see who will close it out, and I'll be sure to see them :) New Matilda's should be starting as early as next week, so I'm anxious to get back to see it! I bought my seat for closing night.

Saw this show with the original cast (Oona Laurence as Matilda) and absolutely adored it. One of my favorite experiences ever seeing a show. I saw it on tour and didn't like it nearly as much. Still a complete shame that it lost the Best Musical award to Kinky Boots.

Saw this show in its second preview and after seeing 100+ Broadway shows, this still remains in my top five of all time. I'm so sad to see it go, but I'm glad that it had such a long life (even after unjustly losing Best Musical). Long live Matilda!

Loved it and loved the spectacle of it all. I'll have to check it out again.
And they're bringing in A Bronx Tale? So we'll have 2 Papermill bores this next season?

Saw it several years ago in London and fell in love with it. It's a shame it won't be on Broadway anymore, but it's had a terrific run.

I don't mean to be rude, but come on heartbroken, crying!
if this one piece of news has rattled you this much, how are you going to cope with everything else life will throw at you?
Loved the show seen it in London, New York, LA, Sydney and Melbourne but at the end of the day it's all razzle dazzle.

and yet Kinky Boots continues to run. Baffling.
"Everybody say yeah!"

^with both porter and Brady gone I could see kinky boots closing by January as well.

It is a show people not a natural disaster . Get over it. Life goes on.

It doesn't have that much longer

It will be interesting to see if before Matilda closes we can actually have one thread that doesn't mention Kinky Boots.

For someone that "no longer cares," you sure do spend a lot of time telling people not to care.
If you want to demonstrate that you don't care about these things, just don't post in topics about them. Easy! Show, don't tell.

Kad's idea of free speech is if he does not like what you say he tells you to leave.
Kad suck it up and put on your big boy pants. Life gets tougher than you not agreeing with someone. I know from experience. I do not give a crap about politics. I still attend shows so I do have interest in Broadway but you cannot deal with the fact my views are different than yours. Life ain't a bowl of cherries. Get used to it.

Roxy, half of your posts contain a variation on the phrase, "I don't care." I'd say you should examine why you feel the need to keep repeating that on a public forum, but I don't think you're capable of self-examination.
You have the freedom to write whatever you like within the board's guidelines. And I have the freedom to call you out on your self-serving, curmudgeonly nonsense.
