I caught the matinee yesterday and was blown away my Ms( or Mrs.) McGovern's voice. I admit I didn't know much about her besides what I had read on this message board, but when she sang Days of Plenty, I lost it. I can't even explain what I heard in her voice....no words. I know this thread is for Maureen but I also just need to mention what a privilage it was to see Sutton, watching her sing Astonashing and a few of the other songs just really touched me and made my admiration towards her grow even more. Maureen, Megan and, Sutton just really struck a cord in me...maybe it's because since I moved out here to nyc a few weeks ago I feel really lonely, miss my family and friends and feel undoubtedly "failurish"... but seeing those 3 women on stage just helped erase any frustration or doubt I had in moving here and in coming here to do what they do. I can't wait for the cast recording and I can't wait to have enough money to go see it again, not so much for the show itself because I felt it dragged but for those three amazingly inspirational women and the voices they each posess.
The theatre is one of the most expressive and useful instruments for the edification of a country; it is also the barometer which makes its greatness or its descent. A theatre which is sensitive and well oriented in all its branches from tragedy to vaudeville can in a few years change the sensibilty of the people; theatre which has been destroyed, in which cloven hooves take the place of wings, can put to sleep an entire nation. A people that does not aid and encourage its theatre is moribund if not dead; the theatre which does not gather to itself the best of society, of history, the drama of its people and the genuine color of its landscape and its spirit, with laughter or tears, does not deserve to call itself theatre, but rather a place for that horrible thing which is called killing time.- Federico Garcia Lorca
Mel! I met you at the Sunday matinee of Rent the day before Jeremy left with Krissy and everyone. How's everything going? Did you ever find a roommate? Feel free to PM me here or on CB any time!
Guilty pleasure, but I keep watching those Broadway.com Opening Night Little Women and On The Scene: Broadway Festival 2005 videos to listen and watch Maureen sing. I like the Opening Night video because John Hickok gives a nice little segue into the clip of Days of Plenty. Love them both. I agree with Mel that there were some great voices in this cast and that's why I'll be purchasing the Little Women OBCR as well.
Okay, you people are just sad. Do I have to carry this thread all by myself? What if Maureen is on this board? Poor diva is probably crying her eyes out at her page two status.

Is it sad that I have been playing that opening night video since wend.? I haven't even made it to the end of the damn thing because I keep turning it back to Maureen's bit and Sutton's bit. April seems so far away and way too long a wait for the OBCR. I think I just need another job asap so I can have enough money for another student ticket, I want to hear Maureen, Sutton and Megan sing again. *hang head in shame*

I've been informed that Burger King has their Muscular Dystrophy Shamrock campaign going on right now - McG is the Celebrity Chairperson - head into your local BK to see her gorgeousness on the posters, and maybe even donate a bit to her cause!
LOVED her in the show, she WAS the show to me, sadly once again Sutton left me cold as a fish. The girl just does NOT know small or medium in her choices, it's always LARGE!
Desire is a funny thing, but I try not to laugh about it!

The director of my latest show toured with Maureen in South Pacific...he said she is so wonderful and talented...and is just the nicest person you will ever meet. He is still friends with her today.
A lot of people will be out of shows that night then...it's odd that they don't schedule DAME for a Monday, isn't it?
I'm sure they had to accommodate her schedule quite a bit in order to get her. Same with certain others who shall remain nameless...from another show...that shall remain nameless...

Does anyone know if Maureen ever comes out the stagedoor? I know she did some at Duke, but she was out the night I stagedoored there and she hasn't come out either of the times I have seen it in NYC. Just wondering...
