If I saw Little Women, I think I would tear up when Ms. McGovern sang Days of Plenty. Watch the video below...there is a clip of her singing the song with Jo (Sutton) sitting there. It is beautiful.
This thread can be dedicated to Maureen and how wonderful she is!

I hate to say I toldja so...but I freakin' TOLDJA SO.
Thanks for the clip!
I freakin' LOVE her. She was the best part about that show...sorry Sutton fans. She didn't make me cry (that award goes to the song, "Somethings Are Meant To Be") but I felt emotional when she sang the song about her husband and after Beth died. And she is so sweet. Love her!!!!!

I cannot wait for a cast recording!
She's amazing, I love her. I wish she would come out after matinees, there was so much I wanted to say!
When they were doing previews in NC I had a chance to see her after the show and she signed my program. She was the sweetest and I felt so sorry for her when Sutton came out!
She didn't come out when I stagedoored in NC. But Janet Carrol came out and she was soooo nice. I agree though, Maureen is wonderful!
I agree. Her "Days of Plenty" was one of the best and most emotional parts of the entire show. I admit, the tears were flowing on that part. She's fabulous!
When I was a kid, she was known as the Queen of the Disaster Movie Themes. She sang the gorgeous theme songs to The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno, and Superman. I always loved her rich tone and poignant style. I haven't really thought about her in years, almost went to see her cabaret act here a few months ago, but it was $50 cover so when I couldn't find someone to go with me, I skipped it.
Having now seen LITTLE WOMEN, I'd give anything to go back in time. I'd pay $100 for an evening of nothing but her singing now.
Rath, do you have any of her cds?
No, but I'm about to start a collection! I've been looking over at Amazon.
Wow, I just remembered that Maureen was out the night I stagedoored. No wonder she didn't come out! But she also didn't come out when I saw it in New York, which was sad.
My friend with whom I saw the show on Thursday knows her, so I got to meet her in her dressing room. Lucky me! Those eyes...
As ND would say "Lucky!" I was at Barnes & Noble about a month ago just looking around the music section and I found a marker that said "Maureen McGovern" and I said NO WAY!!!! They had about four of her cds and they were CHEAP. I would have bought it too if I had any money with me.

There was the time to ask her out for a drink! LOL. I bet her dressing room is decorated beautifully.
I love that song from Poseidon Adventure, not to mention I freaking love that movie (which is weird I know).
I can't wait to see Little Women. Do you think the cast is going to stay intact by the time I get in there; around May/June???

Damn lesbians...lol...LOVE YA!
Those eyes are pretty wonderful, but I would have stolen something from her dressing room if I were you...
There was only one thing I wanted to steal from that dressing room.
BTW---Just watched that clip, and I started tearing up. That was a beautiful song. Can't wait for the cast recording!
Rath, when let's go see it in the spring, and you can ask her out?
LF, I could barely speak to her when we met. I don't think I could ask her out. I have not had such a physical starstruck reaction to anyone in almost 20 years.
You have about 4-5 months to work up the courage. She is absolutely beautiful and extremely talented. I am definitely waiting to get her John Hancock...
No, I wouldn't want her to recognize me from my idiotic performance the other night. Hopefully she and I will never be in the same room again!
