I've seen both and really enjoyed both of them. But I think (until I saw BBAJ) I had never laughed so hard at the theatre until I saw La Cage.

'Memphis.' It's the new original book musical of the past season that won 4 Tonys, including Best Musical, and it also won that same honor from the Outer Critics and the Drama Desk. It's also about to celebrate its 500th performance on Broadway. The multitalented cast is incredible, the dancing is dynamic, and its pop and rock 'n' roll songs are fun and infectious.

La Cage. From Lili Whiteass greeting you at the door to the dangerous Cagelles to Douglas Hodge's mindblowing Albin/Zaza, it's a great evening.

I liked Mamphis, but Chad Kimball/Huey annoyed me. I don't know if it was the character or actor or the combination. On the other hand, he's apparently out a lot, it's an original show, and the music's fun. So if you pick Memphis I think you'll have an enjoyable evening. I just had more fun at La Cage.

La Cage. I wouldn't encourage anyone to see Memphis. It's not awful, but it's just ok.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

LA CAGE by 1,000 miles. I walked out of the embarrassing laugh-fest that is MEMPHIS.

La Cage, without a doubt. Though the entire production was fantastic, I'd go again just to see Douglas Hodge's performance.

The plus side is, he's barely on, so you'll probably see Bryan Fenkart who's great, or Brad Bass who's also amazing.
