For the Miscast benefit they sing songs for roles they would never ever play. Does this mean women sing male-specific songs and vice vera?
Has anyone been in the past? It sounds like a very entertaining night.

I haven't been to one but I think it's not only gender-reversal performances but also race-reversal. For example, Ana Gasteyer might sing "I Am Changing" or Michael Cerveris might sing "Old Man River." I don't think they limit it to men singing women's song and vice versa.
haha- That sounds so cool! I would love to hear Michael singing that!

One time, Raul Esparza sang "Defying Gravity" and "The Worst Pies in London" in the same show. Patti LuPone sang "Ya Got Trouble". And what I feel I really need to hear is definitely Kerry Butler, being the blonde white girl that she is, singing the song "I Got Love" from Purlie. That would be VERY cool.

Or Ana doing "Man" from "The Full Monty".

I like when they do age relevant material as well - such as, lets say, an 11 year old girl singing The Ladies Who Lunch?

Funny you should say that, beacon1. Emily Skinner sang "Big Black Man" from Full Monty.

So they could have Mister Wilson sing "I'm Just A Girl Who Can't Say No" ???

I think it might even be more general than just gender and race reversal. I think it's just, in simple terms, a concert where people sing songs they would otherwise never sing, because they'd be painfully miscast.... which obviously tend to be reversals of race and gender. I could be wrong.
I think I heard somewhere that one year Adam Pascal did a song from A Chorus Line.
So, sure, beacs. :)
I think Bruce Vilanch once sang, "Dance Ten: Looks Three".
Yeah, would have paid SO MUCH to see that!
when is the Miscast benefit?

I knew Raul sang Defying Gravity, but I don't remember him singing Worst Pies. Oh man, I would LOVE to hear THAT! I bet it was perfect.
Michael's done the show loads of times, and I actually want to say he *has* sung Old Man River, but I'm not certain.
I know it's a benefit, but I really wish they had some tickets that I could afford. I hate missing this every year.

Didnt Jai sing Popular from WICKED one year?
I think that was at something different.
Carson Kressly sang Popular at another concert last year.

Hell if I have money for tickets.
I think I heard somewhere that one year Adam Pascal did a song from A Chorus Line.
I think he sang 'What I Did for Love.'
...which he's apparently re-arranging and performing again!

Emcee...I think they should let you go to the Miscast Benefit. I think they should INSIST!
I think there should be a limo ride provided to/from AND dinner AND a backstage pass.
That's what I think...
