Any updates/rumors on this show? Looks like the Public could easily fit in a run in the spring, if it's ready. Or maybe straight to Broadway?
I really wish there were more updates. Sondheim seems to have been busy with all of his recent NYC revivals and Follies in London.

Is he still working on the show? ![]()
Yes. An interview between him and Lin Manuel Miranda was released today and Sondheim mentions how he's working on the show and has an upcoming deadline for it. I think we'll probably see it in 2018 at The Public.
I find it interesting that Sondheim is doing this, and the Met Opera is also doing a Bunuel-based production this season. Why the increased interest in this fellow?
I was so relieved to read that in the interview!

Sorry to BUMP this and get everyone's hopes up, but I'm just wondering if anyone has heard anything recently
I posted this in another thread (copy-and-pasting it):
I believe it's still supposed to happen, but they're waiting on Mr. Sondheim, who has said the writing process is going slowly. I have a friend who was in a show that was supposed to transfer to the Public next year, but they supposedly got pulled from the upcoming season line-up to make room for Sondheim's new show. So if that's true, hopefully we should be seeing it next year.

what was transferring.
JBroadway, thank you for sharing that info. I'm really hoping we see this soon.
Do you happen to know what was transferring and when it was going to play?
Unfortunately I don’t. It was something new and not well-known that was in development. I guess “transfer” was the wrong word. It’s also possible that I’m misremembering some key detail here. I just figured I’d share anyway, because rumors are better than nothing at all.
Although a rumor, this was definitely nice to read. I hope it's true.
we’ve been hearing about a Sondheim Ives show for about 7 years, what’s taking them so long
Happened to be at a rehearsal studio today and there was a rehearsal for a reading of the new Sondheim musical for the public theatre. Sondheim was there as was Glenn Close.
Joel Grey, Michelle Williams, and Sam Rockwell were also there though it’s unclear if they were there for Sondheim’s new musical or rehearsals for “Fosse” and “Fiddler” or something else entirely...
Does anyone have more details on this?
Wow! I hope we get some official word soon.

Fosse? A revival or something based on the book? Haven't heard about this.

In a new NY Times article about the London Company, it’s mentioned that Sondheim is hard at work on his new musical.![]()

This is firmly in the "I'll believe it when it actually happens" territory for me.
