Here's a reminder that the special documentary about Jerry Herman will be shown in the New York area tomorrow night (New Year's Eve) and around the rest of the country on New Year's Day. Check local listings.
Also, Jerry Herman fans may be interested in reading the interview I did with him. It's called "Jerry Herman: He'll Be Here Tomorrow". It's up and running on the BWW homepage.
Dollypop- Thanks for that great interview-- just read it this morning and it made my day ! Love Jerry Herman!!!

Great interview of Herman. Not only do we need a little Christmas but we need another Herman show on Broadway ASAP.

DEAR WORLD is one of my all-time favorites!
Great job, Dollypop! I'm TIVOing it tonight. Happy New Year!
Great interview Dollypop! Herman is one of my favorites. Our local PBS affiliate is running the doc on New Years Day. What a great way to start 2008! And I agree with Mr Roxy...we need another Herman show on Broadway, whether it be a revival or something new.

Here's a suggestion:
Those of you who would like to have Jerry Herman write another musical should leave a message in the "feedback" feature after my article. I KNOW Jerry has been reading the comments that are left there.
I'm not assuring results, but it's worth a try!
What happened to MIss Spectacular?

I got to see a preview screening of this film this past summer and unless something has changed, there is Dear World footage (of the title song).
jacob.. you just made may day!
Next to Richard Rodgers, Jerry Herman is my favorite composer. Broadway has been a better place, because of him.

It was shown on local PBS (near Princeton) just now (apparently, a day earlier than elsewhere). I caught the last hour of it and it looked fabulous to me. LOADS of clips from the original productions of Mame, Dear World, Mack and Mabel, Grand Tour and La Cage aux Folles. They did not appear to be from the Tony broadcasts and were fascinating. I missed the first half hour, ergo Hello Dolly. I'll be ordering it as soon as it becomes available (January 1). Great archival document for any Broadway musical theatre lover.

I only hope some Australian station picks this up for screening here. We need more Jerry Herman music and lyrics here!

I just saw the program and am in a state of exhileration. What a wonderful 90 minutes! It was worth changing my New Year's Eve plans to view.
God bless Jerry Herman!
If all theatre documentaries where as good as this, there would be no desire for time machines to be invented to take us back to eras long gone by. What remarkable footage! And what great interviews!
Maybe I have just been out of the loop, but was anyone else shocked when Mr. Herman said that he was HIV positive? I had no idea and was greatly saddened, but amazed and happy that he has still been able to live this long.
