I'm traveling to NYC for a weekend. Wondering if anyone could recommend 1-2 "must see" shows on Broadway or Off-Broadway right now?
Have recently seen DEH, Great Comet and Indecent. Open to plays or musicals!
Groundhog Day. A Doll's House, Part 2. Hamlet (didn't see it, but the only must-see summer-only show)
I loved an off Broadway play, The Government Inspector, which is at New World Stages. It's hilarious! Michael Urie is a hoot, and the rest of the cast is great too. But it's playing only until Aug. 20. Click through to buy tickets:

I'd suggest maybe Groundhog Day, Sweeney Todd, or even Sleep No More (more so an immersive experience but I've heard amazing things from everyone who's gone to see it).
Hello, Dolly!, Sweeney Todd, and A Doll's House Part 2.
Groundhog Day is a cheap option, but I didn't particularly care for it. Check out the music and see if you like what you hear before you buy your ticket.

Groundhog Day, Sweeney Todd, A Doll's House Pt 2.
The Play That Goes Wrong - Maybe not must see, but if you want to see a play and laugh, it's there.
Hello, Dolly! Everything else you will forget about soon after.
How often do you get to the city? For instance, I think both Come From Away and Groundhog Day are must sees, but if you want to do Sweeney, for example, you might want to pick Groundhog Day because that will close before Come From Away, which you should see while Jenn is in, at least.

Well, considering they said they already saw DEH, I don't think much luck is needed there.
I fall into the "absolutely loved Groundhog Day" camp and highly recommend it. The show surprised me with its emotional depth (as well as amazing stagework & humor) when I first saw it, and I've been back many times since. Andy Karl is giving the best performance of his career in my opinion --- it's worth seeing it for him alone.
Also, I am not confident the show will be open through rest of year, although I hope it will, so that also makes it a must-see for summer!

Second this. Unless you are willing to spend a fortune, no need to miss the show. Donna Murphy: incredibly versatile with great voice. 5 Tony nominations and 2 wins. Would have more if she did more (and performed in shows where she was eligible).
I am not sure ADHP2 is a must see without Laurie Metcalfe -- to me, it is a lot of great ideas, wrapped in a playlet; however, if you want to see at least one non-musical, there are really slim pickings. Right this minute, I think 1984 is the only other option. For comedy, there is always 'The Play That Went Wrong'.
