Also very curious about this. Ross Lekites (heartbreakingly good as Charlie in Encores Brigadoon) would be so great as Freddy. He's been cast in the ensemble in Frozen, however - not sure if that would prove an insurmountable conflict or not.

My older sister and I are going to see it either next Spring or Summer. With such a cast and crew in place, this might be a grand, beautiful production.

The casting of Lauren Ambrose as Eliza is interesting to me because her voice is on the deep, soulful side whereas other Eliza's on stage have mostly been sopranos. After all, Lauren's soulful voice is so good that she was almost Fanny Brice in Bartlett Sher's cancelled Funny Girl back in 2011-12; maybe Sher casting her is his version of an apology.
With that said I'm completely excited for this revival more than any one of them this season (yes even more than the critically acclaimed Once on this Island). For My Fair Lady to be directed by the impressively talented Bartlett Sher at the Vivian Beaumont Theater is going to become an amazing revival to say the least.

Bart always seems to be thinking outside the box when it comes to casting. I mean, no one ever would've thought Danny Burstein would be cast as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, yet he was.

Also Ken Watanabe in The King and I who turned out to be really, really good.
We also have the unknown Henry Hadden-Paton who's making his Broadway debut as Henry Higgins; so it's not only Eliza, but Higgins who were cast by Sher who loves thinking outside the box.

Sorry about the double post but I just read this and I'm very excited to hear that. Maybe Michael Yeargan's My Fair Lady sets will be different than his sets for The King and I and Fiddler on the Roof, that the people who didn't care for those will really like what he's done this time. I wonder if he's going to do more larger/detailed set drops than what he did for the mentioned two and South Pacific, because of the different locations My Fair Lady requires. I wish there was a sneak peek video for the design aspects of the show so I wouldn't have to be in suspense.

And I agree, one of Michael Yeargan's best gifts as a set designer is that he pushes for designs that are big and lavish while being cleverly simple at the same time. Micheal Yeargan, Santo Loquasto, and Bob Crowley are the best set designers working on Broadway today and their best work speaks for themselves.
I think since My Fair Lady is going to be at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, I imagine that Michael Yeargan is going to pull out all the stops for this production. I'm very excited for this. :)

I guess I am alone in feeling that I have been there an done that with MFL- seen several productions and of course the movie several times- the music is great- story great too- but I am not excited to see this again. I saw Imelda Stanton in Gypsy- and a revival of Miss Saigon- wine while both were excellent- not so thrilled to see another revival. Perfect for novices though who have not seen it. Lauren might bring something new with her voice- but for me MFL is tired.

I'm quite excited for Jordan Donica as Freddy because from the audio I heard, he was a very solid Raoul in Phantom. His voice is really nice and I can imagine that he'll slay "On The Street Where You Live". As for Henry Hadden-Paton, I know him as the voice for the "British Male Inquisitor" from the game Dragon Age Inquisitor so he has presence down at least; as for everything else, guess we'll wait and see come March 22nd.

even though I haven't seen it
live since the London
production of 1979.

This could have been a revival that would not have excited me had they gone with the casting most on this forum wanted, but because of the casting of both Ambrose and Paton who are relatively unknown on Broadway, I am really excited about it. I think Paton was a more exciting choice than names like Firth or Downey Jr. because I felt I already knew the type of performances I would get from them whereas I think Paton would give me something a bit more surprising just because I'm not too familiar with his work outside of Downton Abbey, The Crown, and even Dragon Age: Inquisition (though I played the female British inquisitor). Lauren Ambrose is someone who really was not on my radar since I watched Six Feet Under sporadically as it aired on HBO in the early 2000s, but I looked her up and I think she will provide just the right amount of freshness and vibrancy that I wasn't feeling with some of the more popular Broadway names being suggested in that long MFL casting thread. I'm really excited to see what sort of energy she'll bring to Eliza because the problems I've had with some of the clips of various subsequent productions through the decades I've seen elsewhere is that the Elizas have been...interchangeable in a way that any young looking ingenue would have been cast so long as she could sing the score. I feel like Ambrose isn't interchangeable and that's a new feeling.
