Employees must wear masks when entering buildings, on the elevator and in offices. no more than 50% capacity limits.
My company is phasing in employees with only 30% starting back in the office next week and the rest continue to work remotely. The plan is to be back at 50% capacity after Labor Day for the remaining part of the year. Employees have the option to work remotely but we will be alternating between working in the office and at home every other 2 weeks in order to change it up and summer Friday schedule 9-2 with no lunch break if working in the office."
I'M VERY serious about COVID, believe me. But--where do you work and are they hiring???"
I won't disclose the firm I work for but we are a mid-sized tech/management company in NYC under 150 employees that' s been around since 2005. Unfortunately, 30% of staff was furloughed (mostly the new hires within the last 2 years) in all departments till after Labor Day with the intention of them coming back but no guarantee so I do know that they are not hiring at this time as are most companies in NYC at this time. I believe after Labor Day-better yet after the New Year more opportunites will open in all sectors!

I have been with the same company for 6 years with no room for growth. I am desperately searching for something new. I won't ask you to disclose yours, but there are companies are actually hiring right now.

Good Luck...as stated, I believe more opportunities will open after Labor Day better yet after the New Year once things subside and we get back to some sort of new normalcy
1. I have already made an appointment with my barber. My greatest fear is that I will be humiliated when he sees how I have chopped out areas that I could not control.
2. I am devastated that I cannot get a threading yet. (P.S. What exactly is a threading?)
3. Let's remember that ALL of the phases come with significant restrictions including social distancing.
4. My sense is that the protests have shown us at least tentatively and by this weekend fairly conclusively that masked outdoor activity is quite safe. My sense is that the unmasked congregating that we have seen represents a fairly limited percentage of people (especially of residents) and is almost exclusively tethered to drinking. That's good news because the sale of liquor is one of the most easily controlled aspects of urban life. And let's also remember that drinking on the street is easy to interdict.
5. It is true that traffic is getting back to normal, but from my observation a lot of it is caused by people who in the past would take public transportation who are driving into the city. I was at 59/5th on Monday in the late afternoon and the traffic to the bridge was insane, largely 1 person per car.
Haha. Eyebrow threading. It's a lot less painful than a wax!

This was my first time out in Philly in months and I will say that the vast majority of people were masked and people were being respectful. The city has had relatively low numbers and I hope it stays that way.
NJ started outdoor dining on Monday. From what I heard from friends who took advantage of the option, it was done very well. The Jersey Shore sounds like it's another matter completely, but that doesn't surprise me."
I live in Jersey. Family in PA. This past Sunday since restrictions were lifted in both states I came down to PA, in the Bensalem area, to stay with a family member for a week to get away. I was doing fine at home. I have a rather large apartment so do not feel cooped up. But I needed a change of space and to be with someone I know.
They are doing outdoor dining here and large department stores with parking lot entrances are open. Mall's are not. People are wearing masks and respecting distance, for the most part.
I am around people I know (In the neighborhood). A very small town with lots of space. No crowding. I can sit on the front patio, in the back yard or back deck. It was so nice cleaning and setting up the back deck yesterday. I deactivated facebook and don't do insta or twitter. It has been nice to be disconnected from that part of social media.
It felt very strange taking the train. For most of the ride there were 2 of us on the top level of the car. About 6 more people got on 3 stops before Trenton. But glad I did it. Will most likely come back in a few weeks for another week. We have been out shopping a bit so it has been nice to feel "normal" again. Won't make going back to work such a shock!

Ive decided to just keep shaving my head until this is all over. I didnt think i'd like the look but i've grown used to having it now. I also figured the lines are gonna be ridiculous at the barber shops anyway for awhile.
The only real thing I badly wanted was to go to a dentist for a cleaning which I did two weeks ago. Couldn't get the polish though due to aerosol or whatever they said. It was like getting a cleaning again when I was a kid since they couldn't use most of the equipment

Very rarely do you see masks being worn where I live in Australian and usually just the Asian community. I have never worn one and am out in public most days. In supermarkets we seem to just go about our business with our trolleys in the aisles without any worry. Social distancing seems not to be happening at all, or not that I am aware of.
We still have to give our names and details at cafe/restaurants but that's about the only inconvenience I am aware of.
Australia has done a great job of fighting the virus and from what I gather the two keys have been lots of testing and tracing, plus restricting travel (international as well as interstate) and prohibiting large assemblies of people. Notably, as in New York, even when all phases have been achieved, theatres will not reopen for large numbers of people, .

Lebanon County entered the yellow phase 2 or 3 weeks ago and we are staying in it until at least July. It doesn't affect me much anyway as I cook for myself and have been for 20yrs. Don't go anywhere but grocery shopping once a week. People don't seem to understand what social distancing is though. I never understood why strangers need to be that close to other people when standing in a line or in general. I'll never understand it either.

Good luck. The governor in CA started moving us through the phases because we were doing a lot better than a lot of states. And it’s not exactly a conservative state that was pushing him to do so. We’re back to masks again.
I know NY has had to stay quarantined longer because of what a disaster zone it had become, but as CA started moving through the phases, more liberties were taken. And we’re spiking again. Hope NY doesn’t follow the same pattern. You can go from looking good to looking bad again real fast sadly.
Yeah, spikes are happening in so many states right now because they can't go back, it will ruin the economy for a very long time. I get it, but this will happen again and again. It's just a matter of time before it comes roaring back to NYC. Sigh.
When I walk around, I see 90% of people wearing masks. While there have been and are these scenes that the media has highlighted, mostly in relation to bars and areas with a lot of them, and while that can produce individual cases, unless we drop our guard a lot more, I don't think it is significant epidemiologically. (And to be clear, I am not advocating any laxness.) One final point worth making is that we are known to be about 20% antibody positive, and that is likely a significant undercount, which may have an effect in NYC that would not be true in California. (But as with everything else, we simply do not know with a high degree of certainty.)

Same for Florida. People became lax as if virus disappeared. Cases have risen again. Now (as of Saturday) many cities including Orlando are requiring masks.
From NJ and the outdoor dining seems to be a success. The only towns I've heard having crowd issues are Asbury Park & Morristown. Felt bad for anyone dining yesterday with the scattered pop-up storms, but most outdoor dining establishments seem to have tents as well.
Barbershops & salons reopen tomorrow in NJ and I'll definitely be getting a haircut. Appointments only, tempuratures will be taken before entering and you must call before entering. My hair hasn't been this long in probably twenty years when I had to grow it our for a production of HAIR.

As a native Californian, I can say much like NY, it's the metros that are liberal, not the rest of the state. Believe me, outside of LA and San Fran, people are fighting against wearing masks as two members of my immediate family are daily proof and will have a fit (if they haven't already) about this required mask mandate. That's just two members of my own family, but I know what the rest of the state is like too...and it's pretty red.

Does anyone else have the feeling that NYC is seeing less cases because people have left the city? Then they'll come back, and we'll see a second wave?
I live in NYC. Not everyone left. I and all my friends never left. We’re still keeping ourselves safe which is why things are getting better. Streets are still a ghost town and the photos the media is showing with crowds are a radius of maybe 30 feet. Not everything is open.

Haven't we gotten to the point already, that people wearing or not wearing masks has nothing to do with living in a red or blue state. People are selfish aholes and are going to do what they want to do, regardless of rules and recommendations. In Florida, the average age of record new cases are late 20's to 30. For the most part, younger adults and especially younger adult persons of color are NOT Republican. Geesh

My family left the city March 13th and returned at the beginning of June. Many families did leave, but most people did stay. With over 8 million people living here, a small percentage leaving doesn't make a huge difference, as you obviously saw with our huge numbers in March and April.
I think as more things open and as people get more relaxed, cases will rise. Most New Yorkers are being responsible, but.....we will see.
