The scalpers will be licking their chops on this one.
Pricing for this should be a laugh.
Yay. A Matthew Broderick play.
^ lol. Well, he and Lane are close buddies.

I love this play, though I've only ever read it. I'm very excited for this!
I hope Broderick plays a wimpy man with no backbone and Lane plays a loud, over the top character and hilarity ensues
It's exactly what audiences 10 years ago would've wanted!
Pretty amazing casts in the earlier two productions, check out the link

I played Frank Finger, the kleptomaniac "whiz kid" director, in a production a while ago. Had a lot of fun. Stole a lot of the props on closing night.
But who's Nathan Land?
Frankly I greet this news with a gigantic yawn. Nate Lane has more issues than National Geographic and they weigh down his performances. Matty Broderick is about as exciting as an afternoon with my Aunt Myrtle at the Home.

I saw a regional production in the early late-'80s and wrote a bad review and got an awful letter from the director and then he died of AIDS and I saw his quilt panel in Washington DC.
So, aside from those weird associations I do remember one hilarious joke based on a TV being turned off at a crucial moment.
You are being to kind.
Maybe Lane is helping him out getting him a show. Yawn is the proper word.

Who are you implying that Lane is helping? Because I don't think either Broderick or McNally have too much trouble getting the attention of producers.
Lane helping Broderick out? I don't think so. Everyone knows Lane's longtime association with McNally.. Broderick is currently filming in Warren Beatty's major movie project and has completed a starring role in an indie movie. This surprises me since I thought Broderick was attached to a revival of Rumors in the fall.

Ugh... So boring
I was stating re Broderick that people do not run to get tickets to a show because he is in it. Lane is a different story.
I have never seen a production, but I've loved the script since I was a gayling in my teens. But it's such insider baseball when it comes to the theater. And are they setting it in the 80's, with all those references or is McNally doing a major updating? Lane is perfect for the Coco role...and Broderick is pretty much ideal for the Blum role (I think Mark Blum originated it...perhaps I'm wrong). I'm excited to see who's cast as Julia and Virginia.
According to the article, Robbie, McNally is giving the script a major overhaul.
I would've loved to have seen them both in the rumored (has this been confirmed? I can't remember) Rumors revival!
That's what I get for not reading the article. It'll be fascinating to see how he adjusts for new technology and such. The entire point of the cab driver is to bring a copy of the Times.
At least the Chita/Rita joke should still work!
Yawn. Matthew Blahderick will give the same performance he's given the last 30 years.
My sentiments exactly
Lane at least has range . The Producers to The Nance and everything in between.
Broderick did not set the world on fire in Nice Work. Many said he was miscast.

Even if you consider Broderick a one-note actor, it sounds like he'll be playing the right note for this role in this play.
This will be another The Odd Couple with great ticket sales and extremely high expectations. Of course, they will be great but the critics will be waiting with their knives sharpened. I personally thought their Odd Couple pairing was very good and I enjoyed the production.
