I found the number to be very Ashford esque.

Completely agree with CukorLover. Carrie Underwood is currently singing.

Well, a cheap imitation, since one of his assistants, ( Spencer Liff ) was one of the choreographers.

the show is boring and I couldn't find anything else to switch to. I think I'll watch Die Hard for the 33rd time. i know it by heart.

I can spot Ashfordesque choreography a mile awhile now. It is just so uninspired.

I liked the fake PSA for EHD, Excessive hosting disease.

There's nothing worse than TV celebrating itself. I don't blame NPH (the tumble down the dancers on the steps was great), I blame the event.

Apparently Carrie Underwood isn't the man she used to be. Who knew.

Carrie' singing ability tonight made me lose all faith in her to sing the music from SOM

I wonder what key Carrie will be singing SOM score in? Andrews or Martin?

It seems the producers wanted to keep things really conservative/boring this year. NPH looks really miserable.

I just turned off my telly. The show is BOH ring.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Best, and only, "moment" in the show. Neil and Broadway show boy , Charlie Williams.

If I had to see one more close up of Scott Bakula, I thought I'd scream!
Merritt Wever's "gotta go. bye." was the best moment.

God, was that choreography for the Harris production number suppose to be taken seriously. It was a spoof of bad b'way choreography, right? And in that case, taking it for Ashford makes total sense.

Did anyone else notice Neil looked a little bothered by the end of the show? He seemed kinda bored. It looked like they were really only using him for pre-taped stuff and (bad) dance numbers.

He was terrible. The telecast was terrible.

I feel bad for those Rob Ashford dancers; always on every awards show, always performing the 1960s hullabaloo steps.

I don't blame NPH; I blame the producers. That was one of the least entertaining, more poorly executed Emmy telecasts in memory. The awards themselves actually were quite interesting, but would have been more interesting if speeches were allowed to be of any meaningful length (or if all the nominees were shown clips! Or if we had any clips, really, of the season as a whole! TV is great right now; why don't we show off how good it is instead of how good you think the Emmy telecast is because, spoiler alert, it's not.)
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
