Posted: 9/22/13 at 9:40pmWell, it's happened. He can't seem to pull this one off. Only 90 minutes in and dull as dishwater. Lame jokes, and the big dance number "In the Middle Of The Show" that brought back memories of Debbie Allen's lame Oscar work. Just terrible choreography with Harris looking ill at ease. Seems like Harris needs more of the Broadway talent ( Marc Shaiman, Rob Ashford, etc) rather than Hollywood folk to make him shine in the musical sense.

If I had to see one more close up of Scott Bakula, I thought I'd scream!
Merritt Wever's "gotta go. bye." was the best moment.

Posted: 9/23/13 at 12:15amGod, was that choreography for the Harris production number suppose to be taken seriously. It was a spoof of bad b'way choreography, right? And in that case, taking it for Ashford makes total sense.

Did anyone else notice Neil looked a little bothered by the end of the show? He seemed kinda bored. It looked like they were really only using him for pre-taped stuff and (bad) dance numbers.

Posted: 9/23/13 at 7:36amI don't blame NPH; I blame the producers. That was one of the least entertaining, more poorly executed Emmy telecasts in memory. The awards themselves actually were quite interesting, but would have been more interesting if speeches were allowed to be of any meaningful length (or if all the nominees were shown clips! Or if we had any clips, really, of the season as a whole! TV is great right now; why don't we show off how good it is instead of how good you think the Emmy telecast is because, spoiler alert, it's not.)
