Posted: 9/27/13 at 10:24pmWhy is Margaret dressed in a short pink nighty??? I know Ripley will nail this part, but the costumer/director should be shot.

Posted: 9/27/13 at 11:50pmNot faulting Alice because this is a part she was born to play, but those production stills are awful-not artful in the slightest. Were they taken with a Nikon Coolpix? Just tragic.

Horrible. Why is Carrie hugging her mother's bare legs?
Good god.

Posted: 9/28/13 at 11:27amWhat is her career? Shouldn't she be doing higher-profile projects?

"It worked better in 1988 than it does now."
Which is not to say it ultimately worked.

Posted: 9/28/13 at 10:51pmI've always felt like it was awfully close to being a very good show, and even though a lot of the numbers were totally daffy at the very least it was not only conceptually solid but well put-together. Of course, the people who wrote the revival went and sucked all the fun out of it and now it's a Very Serious Show with a lot of poorly-written teen dialogue and somehow even clumsier attempts at characterization. Frankly, I think if the backers hadn't panicked and fled, the original production would've had a really decent run.

Posted: 9/28/13 at 11:42pmSince when do promotional pictures have anything to do with what will be seen on stage? We don't know that Alice will be wearing that costume on stage and we don't know if the campiness in the photos is a reflection of how the director will stage the show.

Posted: 9/28/13 at 11:48pmThat possibility makes the photos even worse then, no?

Posted: 9/29/13 at 12:24amI was excited to see this, but this photos actually make me glad I'm not traveling from Houston to Seattle for this production.

Um...thats kind of their job. They promote the show.

'What is her career? Shouldn't she be doing higher-profile projects?'
Louis Hobson is the Artistic Director of this theater (sorry, I forget it's name) in Seattle so she probably wanted to work with her friend. Plus, judging from their website, it looks like they regularly work with similarly great people (perhaps due to his pedigree...who know).
Also, Alice Ripley is so prefect for this role. And, I've seen plenty of name actors do smaller theater when it's a really appealing project. It happens here in LA all the time.
I think it's great that she's doing the show. I'm sure she will kill it!

The cheesiness of the pictures don't bother me so much. What does bother me is that Alice has the same facial expression in every picture of her...
And the Balagan Theatre is trying to make more of a name for itself. It also brought us our favorite Seattle narcoleptic Jewish Drag Queen (and Drag Race Winner) Jinkx Monsoon (and her male alter ego, Jerrick Hoffer).
I'm still excited to see it (I plan on seeing it twice). And I also found out that Jerrick Hoffer will be reprising his Hedwig in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" for a week in December. It makes me wonder if he's going to try to be Neil Patrick Harris' understudy/standby for the Broadway production.
