I think Naya Rivera would be an excellent choice to portray Gloria Estefan. They bear a resemblance and of course Naya can sing and dance. Hope she's under consideration.

Naya would be good, especially since she has already worked with Gloria. Maybe Karen Olivo, as well.

I saw Gloria on tour in like... the late 90s, I guess. And I have a VHS tape of a concert that I totally wore out when I was younger, and hoarded hard copies of almost all her albums. I am so excited. This is like someone is giving me the childhood fantasy I never even thought of.
(Obviously Raul is going to be in this right? Right? Like that's not even up for discussion?)

^ I think Raul Esparza would be an excellent choice to play Emilio Estefan. This show has the possibilities to be something amazing if it's done right.

Obviously casting will depend tremendously on what end of the age spectrum they choose to go with, since it sounds like they're going to tell a story that spans decades. But, yeah - plus, I'd love to see him get to play a Latin (let alone specifically Cuban) role in a musical.

Unless everyone posting positive thoughts on here on this thread takes thousands to see it weekly, this'll have a nice 2 (two) month run. Gloria Estefan's last tour (the 2004 LIVE & RE-WRAPPED TOUR) did horribly and even her attempt on a singing competition show recently (yes, she did one but NO one knew it!), the Estefans are only appreciated by their loyal fans. Unfortunately, a Broadway musical plays 8 performances weekly. This'll do good on weekends but filling seats during the week will be MURDER! Look what happened to EVITA -- great sales during the weekend performances; horrible during the week. EVITA closed at a loss.

It Cuts Both Ways, really. They'll need to Reach out to the people and if ticket sales are slow they can always Turn The Beat Around and do Anything For You to get you into the theater. But I have a feeling that when people see it and are Coming Out Of The Dark when the show ends, theyll be speechless. And when they realize that Words Get In The Way, all they'll be able to say is how they find themselves Falling In Love (Uh-Oh) with Gloria all over again and how they want to see it again immediately. An for that, there's Always Tomorrow.

I'm sure that during the finale I will be thinking to myself please, Don't Let This Moment End. Hopefully they'll manage to get the Hex Hector version in there. Great memories of Tracks in DC.

Yes RippedMan it's a bio with music. I've had the good fortune to meet the both of them on several occasions and they are both great and very down to earth. Gloria is soooo tiny, though...but she's a dynamo.
