"And be cause of that logo I now officially hate high school musical 2!"
I'm sure you'll be popular around here, especially the way you decide to form an opinion on a movie by its logo alone.
It's a logo people. a LOGO!
How about no judging the movie until you see, it and if your not going to see it. . . Move on, there's nothing to see here.
in it's defense..
i hear you when you say you hate high school musical; however,
disney did not make this movie for 20-40 somethings. they made it for young-ish kids. and the kids absolutely love it. they eat it up whenever it's mentioned. and in my experience as a camp counselor, my 10 year olds were obsessed with it, as was the rest of the 2-14 year olds at the camp. it was even the theme for our color games this year. it's a gold mine, i don't blame disney for making a sequel, it was a huge success.
so everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and if you hate it fine; but remember it is for the kids to love, [which they do], not for you to critique.
I saw a production of it tonight at the Fox theatre in Atlanta. kids love it, no doubt because it's catchy, cliche and cheesy cheesy CHEESY. BUT, I think it works better as a stage show than a movie. it was more appealing and the cast was AMAZING. so much more talented than the movie cast. of course, I prefer the girls over the guys because there were so many goddamn TENORS practically shriveling their vocal chords (among other things) to death, or that's what it sounded like, excuse the crude-ness. but there were moments that made me laugh and enjoy myself and people hate it because it doesn't take itself so seriously like purists think theatre should be.
I needed to spill about my trip to the fox somewhere so thankfully there was this thread to bitch about tenors and the appaling combination of the 3Cs (catchy, cliche, cheesy).

What do you think?
I think I don't care. Sorry, but as Craig said, "It's a LOGO," and plus I don't like HSM.
Okay, it is just a logo. But why shouldn't people weigh in and express their opinions on it. The majority of logos and posters on Broadway these days are pretty darn lackluster. If ad agencies would put more effort into them or come up with more interesting concepts ticket sales would most likely up for that show.
It may sound stupid but if I see a crappy logo/poster for a show (on Broadway, community theatre, movie, anything!) I am less likely to shell out to the dough to see it. Take The Light in the Piazza for example. When they were using the McMullan artwork as their ad in the NYT sales were not all that hot, but as soon as they put out the ads with photos of the 3 leads on the beautiful set ticket sales saw an increase.
I have said before the current Company poster is a horrible choice. They have a young, sexy cast. Everything about that production is classy and sexy. They should have taken black and white photos of Raul and the cast on the streets of New York and made a HOT poster. It would have worked very well with the little tag line on their current poster. Perhaps they could attract more tourists with a poster like that as opposed to tiny pictures of them sitting on cubes.
The logo/poster for things like Grey Gardens, Marie Christine, Bat Boy, etc. Brilliant. I look at it and want to find out more!! It sucks me in!
I know I'm going on a rant, and I realize that High School Musical 2 needs to help. The kids will want to see it no matter what. The logo does not matter. But I see no harm in discussing the logo for something. Since more and more these days the people producing them fail to deliver.
When I first saw it, I was kinda into it. Now, I'll be very dissapointed if it ever goes to Broadway but it was decent. The music was decent, the choreography was pretty terrible, but other than that I thought it was cute.
The logo could have been more interesting, but everyone's seen the original and either liked it or hated it it. If they liked it than they'll see the second one, I don't think the marketers really have to worry that much.
