I get that everyone is on pins and needles about this election, but it is so annoying to be told “Don’t wish and hope yadda yadda yadda” when you’ve already spoken to all your friends and family about voting and made a plan to vote on the first day of Early Voting.

Trust me, I’m doing more than wishing and hoping. But the wishing and hoping is also what’s keeping me from becoming an alcoholic.

And of course the cancel haters had to bump the other thread.  They tried to remove him from life but it failed to work.  This pisses them off because they're discovering that people have pretty much had it with this stuff and so their "power" is going into the toilet.  And so it goes.  This new thing is already hugely popular.

I am not a Patti fan but her teaming up with RR was a pure joy for me--solidarity.

Apart from it being clever, I could hear the clarity and beauty[matched by RR] in Patti's vocals and her breath control, remarkable.

Thank you Patti for helping out a friend.

God forbid we have one less obnoxious white dude getting away with throwing out slurs like popcorn. But hey, you got your super awesome and definitely very cool parody songs back after a spell, so who cares, right?

Cancel culture is generally overreactive, but this guy really could have gone away and we’d be fine. RR is f*cking annoying and creates web content for people who already buy what he’s selling so they can pat themselves on the back.

People are entitled to their opinions. I have never really paid much attention to Randy Rainbow but I will watch anything with Patti LuPone. I have to say, after reading his foul and incredibly offensive tweets I had a hard time finding any pleasure in watching the newest video, and I truly adore Patti. It reminds me of when I saw Amar Ramasar on stage. Do I think that these people never deserve to work again, or that their lives should be over? No, but I do think their behavior, past or otherwise, has turned off many people and I can see why anyone would choose never to support their work again. It has nothing to do with cancel culture...but there is so much content out there to be consumed, and many would prefer to watch something that doesn't feel problematic.

Broadway-style parody songs are unlikely to ever be “very cool” - at least in the 21st century - but his best pieces are indeed super awesome and pretty damn clever.

Does his work *need* to exist? Not really - but he’s brought a lot of joy over the past few years, which is more than can be said about most other media personalities, obnoxious or otherwise.

So... He targets people who are more likely to appreciate his content? And he isn’t universally beloved? That’s truly outrageous for an internet personality. You definitely deserve to pat yourself on the back for your truly incisive and informative comment!

(In greater seriousness - all you’ve actually said here is that RR has a *gasp!* niche and that he’s not an activist who goes out and confronts hostile audiences. However, there isn’t actually anything wrong with either of those traits - even if you do have contempt for his particular niche. Nevertheless, “tries to appeal to a specific audience” and “not overtly confrontational“ are traits true of a vast majority of entertainers.)
