Sorry if this has already been posted but I searched and didnt find anything...
I went to the movies tonight to see The Invasion and to my suprise there was a new Sweeney poster up.
It showed a hanging sign saying "Beware Sweeney Todd is Coming This Christmas." Then below the sign shows Sweeney with his razors walking through a tunnel to Mrs. Lovetts Meat Pie shops. I have a few camera phone pics I can try to post...
Bring on the pics.
But more importantly, how was THE INVASION?

Very "Jack the Ripper." Why not?
FROM HELL, The Musical
Thanks for posting that you guys. I'm also psyched for this BIG TIME, but this poster seems a little formulaic to me. It does resemble the From Hell poster b12b, good call.

Is the entire movie going to be that dark (color-wise)? I don't think I'll be able to handle it... It reminds me of the color tones of Moulin Rouge in the 2nd half... when the movie really began to drag.
Well, if you're looking for light, breezy and colorful, Parks, this ain't the story for you.
Laura Michelle Kelly is the Beggar Woman? Hmph.
Come on, guys...learn to post images! Saves SO much time.
poster looks great but i see they are hiding the fact it's a musical on the poster lol
Brody, would you care to give us a lesson?
:)
Well, how exactly do you make a poster "sing," songanddanceman2?
It's one thing to "hide" it from a trailer, where they are showing scenes from the film and none of the actors are singing... but a poster??
I suppose Depp could be skipping down that dark alley with a guitar and a suitcase... and musical notes could be floating over his head.
Come on.
on a PC: right-click on the image you want to post. Click on Properties, then copy the URL Address. This is the image address which you paste on your post.
on a MC: click on Option and Copy Image Address then paste that on to your post.
Simple as that.
On the BWW Message Board, before your click on Post Message, simply click on Preview to make sure the photo comes up. If it doesn't, then try again or it's a non-working image file. By clicking on Preview, this helps you 'preview' your message before posting it.
I think they're trying to hide that it's a musical...
Sweeney Todd is a very hard show, let alone film, to market and I guess the best way to do it is to have Johnny Depp's name whored all over the poster(s). Can't blame them...they have to find an audience somehow and advertising Deep is probably their best shot; not advertising the fact that it's a dark musical involving suicide, mental disabilities, murder, and greed...doesn't have the same ring to it as "starring Oscar-nominee JOHNNY DEPP", does it?
I can't wait for this movie, though...I really think it's going to be wonderful. (When has the combination of Deep + Burton EVER not been wonderful?)
Thank you Brody for that.
"I think they're trying to hide that it's a musical..."
Well, right now, I think they're trying to hide that it's a MOVIE. We haven't seen a trailer yet, and (non-singing) images have only surfaced this past week.
I would reserve judgment on whether or not they're trying to hide that it's a musical until after the first trailer is released.
...and according to the leaked description posted, it will have "singing" in it.
Well I agree - how exactly do you show that its a musical in the poster? SWEENEY TODD is a horror story, singing or no singing. Horror films are marketed a certain way. Period horror films are marketed a certain way. Maybe they could have shown Stephen Sondheim sitting inside one of the windows sitting at a piano playing the score to INTO THE WOODS.
And yes, Parks the film is filmed in almost entirely grey and white colors.
