I think Todrick was developing this at the same time he was doing BURLESQUE in London. It apparently was very well-received when it was over there, so I’m curious about it. They had quite a cast over there too - Marisha Wallace, Nick Rashad Burroughs, and Rachel Tucker among others.

There was also an article not too long ago that mentioned that development of new shows in London is exponentially cheaper, so that was probably a factor

I saw this in London and it needed a MONUMENTAL amount of work. At three hours long, it was entirely unfocused and tried to be a dozen different things, not quite succeeding at any of them (yet). A gay Cinderella/Slave story that entirely switches up from act one to act two, I found it bizarrely confusing. I’m actually very curious to see what kind of work has been done on this.

Ugh, there’s nothing worse than having to sit through a Toderik Hall musical. Well, it would be worse if he was actually staring in it.

I saw this when in London last spring and it was mostly TERRIBLE! He wrote a few nice songs and he's an okay performer. He is, however NOT a bookwriter, NOT a choreographer (so derivative!), and CERTAINLY NOT a director. There is a pointless reality switch between acts that makes no sense. He was able to scam the British theatre ommunity (who think anything that has to do with African-American slavery MUST be brilliant and worthy) to find backers and a good cast that tried to put over his hookum. The scam continued night after night with lengthy curtain speeches begging for money. And if you go on his Reddit thread you will read he is very familiar with scamming.

If I had hours I could type out why he's the reason there is no more Celebrity Big Brother. Or why all of the footage from his season showing him being an asshole on his season of CBB is seemingly gone from Youtube. Or why he never paid those poor dancers until the internet was ready to call him out for not doing so.
There are other shows I'd rather support by other people I'd rather support! Just not sure when we welcomed him back with open arms...

Except the majority of funding came from American backers.There are some Tony Award winners in there as well.

Not for the two British shows, which were actually workshop/backers auditions that he actually charged people to come see.
