If a friend and I plan on rushing for N2N on Friday (May 22), what time do you think we should get to the theater to be guaranteed rush seats?

The earlier the better. Just beware of the psycho-beyotch who likes to be first in line.

Between 7 and 8 is your best bet. Unless you want to get there crazy early to guarantee front row seats.

Use common sense. The earlier the better. Get up early and hang out by the box office until it opens. You're not going to get an exact time. Every day is different for every show.

Getting there by 8 will definitely get you something.

That's right, as usual, no one give the poor guy any useful advice, just your usual bitchy attitudes.

You don't need to apologize. That is one of the functions of this board, or at least it is supposed to be. Unfortunately, it is haunted by a bunch of embittered hags who just like to see themselves in print and so they respond to even the most innocuous of posts with sheer bile.

A friend of mine rushed this morning and got there at 7. She said she was the only one there until 7:30. She also said, by 8:00 it looked like they had enough people that the front row was gone. So, if you want front row, before 8. If you don't mind a box, I guess you could get there after 8.

Its the same time no matter what show you're seeing. The box office opens at 10 and it's a Saturday which means I'd get there closer to 7-7:15, if I were you.

Also does anyone know if they still sell the sides of the orchestra at rush price?

As far as I know, no. That only happened once or twice that I know of during previews. It's almost always only the standard issue 26 seats.

Also, the Rear Mezz seats are only a little more expensive than rush so if you don't get a rush seat I would just suck it up and pay a little more for rear mezz. The theater is small so any seat is great.

The line is very misleading, adamgreer.

I got there yesterday (tuesday) at 8:00 am, and got the last two tickets. There were only 17 people in line, but each person is entitled to two tickets with their wristbands. At least there could be 13 people in line to take up all the tickets for one performance. This rush is going to become impossible soon.

I'd get there before 8 if you don't mind waiting longer. When people are able to get more tickets than they initially want, many think "hmm. Are there other friends I may want to ask?"

I do think that they should ask when they hand you the wristband how many tickets you want and that is written on the wristband and that is what you get. Maybe do it like a lottery where you can drop down, but you cannot increase.

^^That sounds pretty reasonable to me.

I remember when I stood on the cancellation/SRO for the Producers when Lane and Broderick were still in it. I have to say, to this date, I have never met a nicer theater staff guy then the man whose job it was to watch over the line. At about 9ish (if I am remembering correctly), he came out and made an official list. He took everyone's name and how many tickets they wanted and if they were waiting for cancellation or SRO. He was very upfront about cancellation chances and kept track of the number of SRO spots taken (it was a two show day when I did it). He told us upfront - you step out of line, you could lose your spot, unless you had a person in your party to hold it (i.e. my friend and I were both there and could have gotten 4 tickets, but only wanted two so one of us could leave the line if needed) and your number of tickets is firm so he could best inform the folks at the back of the line how many folks were in front of them.

I waited 6.5 hours on that line as they released SRO two hours prior to show (I saw a matinee). I know the Producers drew large crowds, so it was in their best interest to keep track of the line, but I wish only rushes/cancellation/etc were that organized! :)

Right. I believe Second Stage does that as well ~ takes the names and then will call them as tickets are available, but I'm not positive.

To clarify on my "like a lottery" statement ~ most lotteries will let you drop down to only one ticket when your name is called if you then only need one, but I don't think I've ever seen one that lets you increase to 2 once your name is called. So my thinking is with the wristbands, if they start writing how many you need on there, you could have the option to drop from 2 to 1, but not jump from 1 to 2.

^I think you're right about 2nd Stages taking names. Though I suppose that is easier to do if your rush takes place after the box office has opened and folks are around. But still...

I understand your "like a lottery" idea and it makes perfect sense to me. I know I would hate to get on the end of the line after counting and asking each person how many tickets they wanted thinking I had the last ticket only to find out when I got to box office that someone in the line changed his/her mind to get two tickets and I waited to be shut out. Talk about frustrating!

I've increased to 2 once my name was called at lottos before. It's never been a problem.
