well if you can't afford another $10 to buy their cheapest ticket in advance, you probably shouldn't be spending money on Broadway.

And not everyone can afford to just take days off work willy nilly jordangirl. Some of us don't have that luxury or the excess cash necessary for that to work.
IN ADVANCE are the key words. Yes, I've bought tickets for the last row mezz in advance before. But those are generally NOT available the day of because they've been sold in advance.
If you live in Jersey, take the earliest train for that morning. For me it is around 4:50, I get in at like 5:45 and get to the theater around 6. I've gotten tickets before. It is not impossible if you live in Jersey, like I do.
Or get a $36.50 mezz seat that is an amazing view and quit complaining. 36.50 is the same price as the Shrek rush and the 9 to 5 lottery. Not that much of a difference.
I know this is none of my business, but at 15 years old (I believe you are), you take a train alone that early?
Just curious. I give you big credit. I still don't take public transportation alone.
wait, so last I checked every thought 7AM gave you a pretty decent chance. Now everyone is spazzing out. Must i get there earlier to get seats?
Nice when you can afford that. Not everyone can.
Nice when you can afford to see the show over thirty times, regardless of how much the tickets you buy cost. I say this in the nicest way possible, but you're the last person who should throw any stones here.
You're going to have a hard time finding anyone to sympathize with you simply wanting what's most convenient toward your "habit," considering the people like you who insatiably keep going back are the main reason the line is as long as it is to begin with.

Yeah the obsession of some people really ruins it for those of us that don't have an unhealthy addiction to this show.
Ljay- That is the earliest I've ever gone in, and I was with a friend. She was a year younger than me, however.
I go in by myself sometimes if nobody else can come in with me, but I usually go in around 11:30 and try to lotto.
I agree with what everyone's saying. A lottery would be better in this case. There are pros and cons to both a lottery and rush system, but this rush has gotten out of hand and a lotto would be more reasonable. Everyone would have a fair chance of winning, rather than the same people rushing all the time.
Those people that see the show on a regular basis just want what's most convenient and easiest for them (well said, somethingwicked!). I don't understand how one could rationalize, well if you just wake up early you can get a ticket. Not everyone can get there that early nor even wants to get there that early. It's ridiculous. And for those who don't live in the city, you have to get there at like 5-7am, buy your ticket at 10am, and then stay in the city all day and wait for your show to start at 8pm. That's exhausting. At least with a lotto you just go there at 5:30 or 6pm, it takes a half hour, and that's it.
And it's even more ridiculous to have to take a day off work or school to rush.
"And ParisOriginal, so request two days off in a row and rush for one of those..."
^Come one are you serious? Not everyone can just take off whenever they want to see the show (or go to every single N2N-related event.

Woah this thread has gotten really angry.
My question is whether 7 am is still early enough to get tickets in this imperfect system?

If you don't want to wait in NYC all day try to get tix for the Matinee at 2 or 3.

I doubt it. 4-6 AM seems like your best bet.
"If you don't want to wait in NYC all day try to get tix for the Matinee at 2 or 3."
True, and I did see a matinee the one time I saw the show, but that was before the rush got crazy. It was still a long day for me though. Now that the rush is insane and the only days with matinees are weekends which are probably even busier, I still wouldn't rush for a matinee.
The time I rushed for the show, I got there around 6:45 AM, and the show wasn't until 8:00. I had to stay in the city the whole day since I live in New Jersey. I took some dance classes in between, but boy, was that a tiring day.

Weekends are the busiest days, and those are the days they have matinees. You'd have to be there before 5 AM. Ridiculous.
I got to the N2N rush line at 7:15 am on Sunday and I was 13th in line and was still able to get 2 tickets.
The first people got there around 5 that day, and the box office opened at 12. By 9:30 we were moved from Shubert Alley to the side of the Booth, and by 10 there were over 100 people on line.
I guess it depends on the day, as some people like to sleep in on Sundays, some work, some have church or other things.
I think someone said they were going to have a lotto in the fall. Is this true? and if so, when would it start? after labor day (and Aaron's return)?
Claudio -- have you read the thread? Many have been clamoring for just that, but at this point it is a moot point. Nothing has been said by the box office...so there is no time that it would be starting.
Could anyone tell me? How often HAVE theaters changed their policies from Rush to Lotto or vice versa?
Well, A Chorus Line changed from a lotto to a rush.
Rent changed from a rush to a lotto.
Jersey Boys got rid of their student rush system (and now have that text-student-lotto thing?)
"I know this is none of my business, but at 15 years old (I believe you are), you take a train alone that early?
Just curious. I give you big credit. I still don't take public transportation alone."
I take the train and the bus alone that early and I'm 14. It's not scary.
And the thing is with all the rush is the earlier someone gets there someone will want to get there even earlier. If someone says "I'm getting there at 6" then someone is going the get there at 5. It's a chain reaction, that is what happened to the Shakespeare in the Park lines. YOu are setting the bar so high that you have to commit even more time for the line. If everyone just got there at a reasonable time then you would get tickets, but no people have to get there so early, it's ridiculous.
I have some friends coming in about two weeks and there will be five of us and we are all trying the rush. Their train gets in at 5:15 and I hope that we all get in if we are there by 5:45.
The thing about changing from a rush to a lotto is that they'd have to pay someone to pull it which I know some shows have been hesitant to do.
I one time ran from Penn Station to the Booth theater in 10 minutes to make sure I got tickets.

They could use the guy they're currently paying who distributes the wristbands.

Do you understand how ridiculous it sounds that you have to literally run up 8th Avenue at 5:30 in the morning in the hopes of getting tickets? It's not like they're handing out free mortgages or anything; it's a ticket to a show. Get a grip.
