Lose intimacy? Have you seen A View from the Bridge? or any of the other smaller shows on Broadway. Broadway houses aren't gigantic.

Have you even seen Lazarus, though? I am thinking clearly not. This show would get swallowed whole in any theater bigger than the Hayes or the Booth. I'm saying that as a huge fan of the show who has seen it three times now.

Not all, but the Longacre in my opinion is too big. Circle in the Square may be a good option, but Fun Home doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Greased, I agree with your point. But, I do think if they were to transfer Lazarus, they could stage it in a different way. The way it is staged now is built for the tiny space at NYTW, but it could be opened up.

I'm with you, neon. I think they could open up the design and space nicely, make it even more epic if that's possible. It worked well for Once, in my opinion.
Exactly we have so many smaller shows that have transferred to Broadway and been successful in a bigger house.
I thought Grounded was coming to Broadway? Was that just a rumor?
I believe the goal for Grounded was Broadway, but with Anne Hathaway pregnant, I assume it would be on hold.
I know the producers of NERDS and they continue to insist it's coming to Broadway... it was the word on the street at the NYMF gala as well in November. However I agree that it has zero buzz in the theatre community so it would be a bad move to move it so quickly without letting it build more of a buzz through social media and Press releases...
My money is on Lazarus because money talks. David Bowie was one of my favorites... and he was a lot of people's favorites... it's impossible to get a ticket downtown so any producer in their right mind would invest in this show. Everyone in town will want to see Bowie's last work of art.
It's true. Nerds will be opening at the Longacre in April. I'd expect an official announcement very soon.
An announcement about Nerds should be made tomorrow.
Nerds will need a top-tier director and A-list Broadway cast to have any chance of taking off. It's been ten years since its debut at NYMF, and has been in constant revision since then and had Broadway rumors for the entire time that never came to fruition.

I truly don't understand why you would bring in a new musical that NEEDS awards to run into such a musical-heavy season, where Hamilton is going to win all the big prizes.
Who is their audience for this? Because I'm a Broadway fan and I have NO interest.
Should we all meet back here in mid-June (or earlier) to discuss the next show for the Longacre?

yes!! But I'll already cast my vote for LAZARUS to play a limited run at the Longacre from July - September 2016.

You guys will love NERDS. Very tuneful & funny score much like THE BOOK OF MORMON. It's a funny show with a heart. It has as good a chance of succeeding as anything. It got sensational reviews in Philadelphia two years ago.
I'm really surprised Lazarus hasn't made a move uptown.
That would make 3 productions for the same director in a season. Is that a first?
I agree about the transfer, Ripped Man. But I was just reading an interview with the lead producer, and he hinted at an international move - maybe to London and then beyond. He said that there has been a lot of interest to take the show all over the world, and that the interest has intensified since Bowie's death. I saw it right before New Years ... I can see it doing really, really well in Japan, for example.
Interesting. I wonder why not to Broadway then? Maybe because of Hamilton? I'm just jealous because I'd love to see it and won't get a chance to.

Hi, Nerds producer! You're making a terrible mistake!
Re: Lazarus, I would assume part of the reason they haven't transferred would be the availability of its cast.
Didn't I see Nerds at NYMTF like a decade ago? Or it was something that sounds exactly like it.
It it was not good.
It's official! http://nerdsmusical.com

It's the same Nerds, albeit revised, as from NYMF.
