For what it's worth, the Sondheim Review is listing that "A Little Night Music" with Peters and Stritch will play through January 11, 2011 (a Tuesday?!)

And Playbill has a note that the matinee on Sunday December 26 will be at 2pm, not 3pm. So taht seems to indiacte plans are to run through the holidays.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Tickets have been on sale through January 9 since June. I'm sure the producers were hoping Peter and Stritch would extend past November 7 but there's nothing official yet.
I have a friend in the show, and it seems like the producers are indeed looking to recast.....again
^ I'm not totally sure I believe that. I would love if they kept recasting, but I don't think it's realistic.
Given the high cost of recasting, I am pretty sure that the producers are not looking at that option. What I am sure they would like would be for Peters and Stritch to extend, at least through January 2.
Sorry, where on the link does it say that a 'A Little Night Music' is extending and they are retaining both leads?
It says:
"Walter Kerr Theatre, New York, NY, Jul 13, 2010-Jan 11, 2011 (Starring Bernadette Peters & Elaine Stritch -- Tix: 212-239-6200)."
I don't know if it really seems like the kind of source that would have the news first though? I mean, I thought they would have just put the dates that they are selling tickets to and put Peters/Stritch (even though they aren't actually contracted to hose dates) because it's easier. [Unless it was recently updated and before that they only had till NOvember?]
I am pretty certain that if you attempt tp order tickets for a performance after Nov. 7, you'll get a message indicating that Peters and Stritch may not be in the show. Again, I will say that it's more likely than not that if the two stars will not extend past Nov. 7, the show will close when they leave. Not impossible, just unlikely. What everyone wants is for the producers to negotiate an extension.

Bernadette was originally performing in Jacksonville with our symphony in April 2011. They sent us new tickets for the resheduled date of January 19, 2011. The explanation offered by mail was that she has a prior committment with Follies. So she definately will not be doing Night Music on January 19.
