Based on the trailer, Marshall has done a pretty great job shooting around Kidman's face. This is the best she's looked since Moulin Rouge.

One thing I like is the fact that the trailer makes it clear it's a movie musical.
It's "Chicago" pizza, Italian-style, and I can't wait for a slice of it!

I'm right there with you, besty!
This looks fantastic. I'm really impressed with Fergie's singing. I really can't wait!

Looks better on the Quicktime site with HD versions that work great full-screened.
I agree with all those that say that it looks amazing, and those that say it looks very similar to Chicago!
This is a show that I am not terribly familiar with, I have the OBC and enjoy it, but I am not so attached to it that I won't be able to enjoy any changes or variations that the movie makes.
The trailer looks great. Have they made the character of Guido older? I thought he was only supposed to be 39, and Mr. Day Lewis looks considerably older than that.
elphabelle07 - Unless I'm mistaken, Marion did her own singing in "La Vie En Rose," which she won the Oscar for in recent years past.

WOW!....all i can say....i am genuinely excited to see this
B3TA07- Marion did not do her own singing in La Vie En Rose. She was lip-synching to Piaf's original recording.
Cotillard didn't sing in LA VIE EN ROSE, apart from the drunk scene in the bar. Otherwise, tracks of Piaf were used, and in some cases her voice was dubbed by Jil Airgot.
Oh. I thought I'd read that she did.
I didn't realize LaFleur is Guido's costume designer now. Wonder what other major changes were made. I think Stephanie Necrophorus is gone, and is now replaced by Kate Hudson's character who gets a number of her own (a number that looks fantastic!).
I just love the dance during "Be Italian," a clear nod to Tommy Tune's original (and brilliant) staging of the number.
Can't wait for this to come out! And I agree, the trailer actually makes it clear that it's a musical...for once.

I agree. There isn't any of that Sweeney Todd nonsense of trying to pretend it's something else.
The trailer looks just gorgeous, but gorgeous is something you can pretty much rely on in a Rob Marshall movie. The real question is whether it'll be an Oscar-baiting bore like Memoirs of a Geisha or something livelier like Chicago.
After watching it again, I love it even more.
Kate Hudson's new number looks fantastic, while that shot of Cotillard crying against the wall is beautiful.
This looks great and from the trailer sounds great too.
VERY anticapatory in excitement!
Best12bars, that comment was brilliant and made me smile :).
My Lord I can not wait for November 25th. Seriously.

Wow, it looks really good! I should probably try to get more familiar with the musical before it's released.
Unless I'm mistaken, Marion did her own singing in "La Vie En Rose," which she won the Oscar for in recent years past.
Although they used all of Edith Piaf's vocals to dub over Marion, she did LEARN how to sing so that her breathing and mouth movements would coincide with the music.
She does have vocal talent that I'm sure was only further honed as a result of the training.
