In a 1986 interview June Allyson expressed surprise that she ever became a movie Star. Here's her wonderful quote "I have big teeth. I lisp. My eyes disappear when I smile. My voice is funny. I don't sing like Judy Garland. I don't dance like Cyd Charisse. But women identify with me. And while men desire Cyd Charisse, they'd take me home to meet Mother."
I love that. God rest her sweet soul.
I have, somwhere an audiotape of June Allyson and Richard Deacon (Dick Van Dyke Show) doing a medley of Tea for Two/I Want To Be Happy. They were in Australia, (possibly 1973) for a charity function which was televised. It was explained that they had both recently appeared in NO, NO, NANETTE hence the song. From memory June appeared a little "tired and emotional".
We are taking over! This morning while listening to a "oldies" radio station I heard Take A Little One Step from the 71 cast album. When was the last time you heard that on radio? The announcer back announced the singer as Ruby Keeley, oh well.
(Evil laugh) MWAH, HA, HA!!!!!
Our plan is working!!!
Today, an oldies station...
TOMORROW (give or take a few thousand days), BROADWAY!!!!!!!!
Another candidate to play Pauline in our glittering NANETTE revival:
Wouldn't it be wonderful to see Eileen Brennan in one last musical?
My God that would be fabulous! Her glowering onstage would make people walking by the theater outside laugh...
Eileen is the best to date! She's got my vote.

Another wildly enthusiastic vote for Eileen Brennan! Brilliant casting! I'm already laughing.

I know he'd never do it and Lord knows he has so much on his plate but Hugh Jackman would make a dynamite Billy Early. Needless to say, he'd sell tickets. Unfortunately, it's not a big enough star part for him. He can do the film or TV version!
No I wouldn't want to see him play it. He couldn't dance it anyway. He is getting so much publicity here in Australia what with the new tour of THE BOY FROM OZ. I'm sick of the sight of him.

You really don't think he could dance it? Maybe not. I just thought, he's such a high profile star, he could sell tix. My first choice is still the wonderful Michael Berresse who is an amazing triple threat. Helluva dancer.
OK let's go with Michael Berresse then. What would I know him from?

Michael Berresse played Bill Calhoun in the revival of KISS ME KATE (2000) for which he received a Tony Nomination as Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He just finished a long run in THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA and is currently rehearsing for the Revival of A CHORUS LINE in which he will be playing Zach. He's terrific.
His A CHORUS LINE stint will help his profile, sounds good to me.

Heather Parcells (who I had the plesaure to work with) will be playing Judy Turner in the CHORUS LINE revival. She is adorable and has a gorgeous coloratura soprano. She would also make a wonderful Nanette or a possible Winnie.

Thank you Horton for starting this thread. Obviously alterego and I will not let it fade away until this dream revival is produced!
Just feel like singing:
She's peach of a girl she is charming.
She is sweet, she is swank, she is swell.
You can bet Nanette was the pride and pet
Of the Marlboro-Blenheim Hotel
-Nanette! What are you doing here?
- Well, I spent the night with my Grandmother...
-She lives in Omaha.
-No, the other one...
