Re: Noah Schnapp to make West End debut in new play AFFLUENZA

It's really SH*Tty that Noah's acting and choice of role (and the entire production) has been completely overshadowed by the fact Noah happens to be from a ethnic minority group that the world has decided is fair game for abuse even though it's one of the tiniest and historically most oppressed minority groups in the world.

That would never, ever happen with any other minority group.

There it is.. Anti Zionism isn't anti-semitism..
It is not about being a Jew, it is about begin pro Israël.

As far as we know now, Noah isn't pro Israël (anymore).

"

1) The overwhelming majority of Jews in the world identify as Zionists.
2) When your anti-zionism is rooted in falsehoods that generalize Israelis and all Zionists as "evil", you're practicing in hatred and libel against Jews.
3) When you continue to be "anti-Zionist" while refusing to understand what Zionism actually is to Jews across the diaspora, while Jews are under attack for "anti-Zionism" around the world, you're practicing in anti-semitism.
4) When you refuse to understand that Zionism does not mean you support the Israeli government's actions, you're being ignorant and blaming all Zionists (again, the overwhelming majority of Jews around the world) for the government's actions.
5) When you take the stance of an "anti-Zionist", it means that you do not believe the Jews have a right to exist in their ancestral homeland. That you do not believe Jews have a right to a safe place to call home. MANY Zionists want a two-state solution for peace. Anti-Zionists do not want Jews to have any home in that land, and deny them their ancestry to the land. This is anti-semitic, and a denial of our history.
6) When you condemn, attack, harass and bully a young American Jew for being a Zionist, despite the fact he has condemned the current Israeli government and its leader, despite the fact he has criticized the government's actions during this war, you're being an anti-semite. Because you are expecting a Jew to entirely turn his back entirely on his people, his ancestral homeland, his faith. Folks here regularly condemn Trump and our current government in America - but no one is being attacked for simply being an American. Or believing that America still has a right to exist. There's only one group being attacked in the name of criticism of the Israeli government - and that's Jews. Not just Israeli Jews, but ALL Jews.

Over the last nearly 3 years, anti-Zionism has absolutely become anti-semitism. And why is that? Ignorance, mostly. A failure to understand what Zionism actually is, and a conflation of Zionism with Netanyahu. Zionism is older than Netanyahu, and the modern state of Israel.

You can keep telling yourself whatever you want so that you can get to sleep at night. But when you attack a Jew for being a Zionist without bothering to do any deep-diving into their feelings on Israel's current government and its actions, you're being an anti-semite.

And yes, Noah is still "pro-Israel". He still believes it has a right to exist, and that Jews have a homeland there. One can be "pro-Israel" but not "pro- the current Israeli government".

Yep. Just like a bunch of Jewish college kids trying to take a class, stopped and harassed and threatened simply because "anti-Zionism". But yet, some of our contemporaries here on the Boards will tell us "anti-Zionism isn't anti-semitism". A self-told lie just to help them sleep at night, I guess.

It's really messed up because he only expressed solidarity with the victims of October 7, not with the government or military.

When you consider that his extended family and friends of friends were among the victims, his stance makes more sense, and he consistently kept Palestinian suffering in his rhetoric. So many people would rather minimize his perspective to just being evil and pro-genocide, when that's literally the opposite of what he's said.

According to JPPI, 82% of those surveyed are Zionists. Numbers in America have diminished because some fear the term Zionist is too associated with Netanyahu - which you have made clear you believe. It's sad that we have to reject a word that represents the idea of return because people like you choose to ignorantly equate the basic concept of Zionism with a current government.

I highly suggest looking into the longtime oppressive actions taken by the Israeli government against the Palestinian people. To be anti-zionist is to be anti-colonization. Zionism is absolutely a form of religious extremism, but zionism =/= to Judaism. And idk, but I don’t think any religion should have a religious ethnostate. Anyone who supports Israel is brainwashed and history will not view you positively.

In any case, Noah has made it clear that he doesn't support genocide or violence against civilians in general, multiple times through multiple platforms.

If anyone would like to know more about what happened with him and how things spiraled into an antisemitic/homophobic hate campaign, I encourage you to check this post that breaks it all down.

As a big fan of his work in Stranger Things, I'm excited for this next step and wish him a great run.
