re: OFFICIAL TONYS 2006 WINNER/BROADCAST DISCUSSION THREAD

HA! I love it! For some reason PJ winning is simply hysterical to me.

I'm not sure I understand. Hysterical because of the reactions on this board or does is it some sort of affirmation of your opinion of Tony voters?

WOW. Didn't see that one coming.

Color Purple for best musical!
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

Actually the tally so far is:

Drowsy Chaperone 5
History Boys 5
Jersey Boys 2
Sweeney 2
Awake and Sing 2
Pajama Game 2
Faith Healer 1
"What a story........ everything but the bloodhounds snappin' at her rear end." -- Birdie [http://margochanning.broadwayworld.com/] "The Devil Be Hittin' Me" -- Whitney

Wow, that was shocking. Sweeney Todd is now the second masterpiece (first was Brokeback) in the last year to go unrecognized at the finish line.

Also, as happy as I am for Christian Hoff, I'm upset that Manoel didn't get it. Here's hoping for LuPone.

Actually, I think it's economical. "Sweeney" has already made back its investment and will continue to do well regardless. "Pajama Game" is set for a commercial run in the fall, and voters wanted to help them out, IMO

I'm sorry, the only thing that matters are Alfre Woodard's enormous breasts.
ROFL. Truth, that.

Figured it'd be History Boys, although I still held out a little hope for Inishmore. Yay for HB, though.
