When a show really moves you, it does become a part of you. I listen to the cd several times a week, and I like to see things I feel are good art be rewarded.
But you are right, Margo. Sweeney not getting an award will never erase the joy it brings me. I just thought Tony voters were...I don't know smarter..

It stinks, I am stuck at work and am having to toggle back from bww to the tony awards website just in order to see who is winning. Congrats to who have won tonight so far.

2) I find it HYSTERICAL how upset and caught up some of you get over these things. If you don't have a personal stake in this -- like actually being nominated yourself or personally knowing someone nominated -- why on earth would you let any of this bother you? What does Sweeney winning or not have to do with your life?
That's a very good point. Despite being surprised more than upset, my thought on this is that it's about validation. To take things to the extreme, no one really wants to be the only to like/love something. While in this case I think a lot of people like PG and Sweeney (and probably a lot of people like them both), I imagine if you've thrown your lot into support of one, regardless of whether it makes sense or not, you could feel undermined and devastated. Which is probably more discussion than you wanted when you made that comment. Sorry. :)
