In the 90s was a two piece kinda thing with a Year between them. But they are seeing this as one thing. Spinella won featured and lead because Prior is the lead as a whole. Leibman was not even nominated for Perestroika as an example of Little he does for the other half of the play.
And the minisseries... Name Rec played a Lot there. After all Emma Thompson went lead for playing the Angel while Parker was supporting. I Mean, really?
I really see everybody as featured aside from Prior, at least in this conjoined production.

I would also include Harry Potter in the choreography nominees
I don't see how Roy Cohn could possibly be justified as a "featured" actor. His actual stage time might not be as long as Prior but he probably has the most iconic scenes in the entire play. Making him "featured" actor is like making Shylock featured actor.
And I especially can't see how Nathan Lane can be justified as being shoved into "featured actor" considering how much he dominates the stage.
Is Metcalf really going to be considered "featured" in THREE TALL WOMEN? That's a far more ridiculous category placement than either Cohn or Prior being considered a featured role in ANGELS.

At the end of the day it's all up to whatever the producers decide. Roy might be the lead of part 1, but it really takes over as Prior's story for part 2. By the end of the 2 plays together, Prior feels like the lead of the story.
Also interesting that in the original production, Ron Leibman (Roy) won Best Lead Actor for part 1 but wasn't even nominated for part 2. Stephen Spinella (Prior) won both years (Featured Actor and then Lead Actor) with Jeffrey Wright (Belize) winning Featured Actor for part 2.
I wouldn’t put money on Kate Rockwell winning. I think out of these woman, Lindsay is the front-runner. But I also don’t think Ashley Park makes it in, she’s not a huge standout.

I believe there will only be 4 slots for Lead Actor in a Musical, though I might be wrong. Also, it sounds like I have it out for Ashley Park (which I don’t), but I’d expect Barrett to make it in before Ashley. Just in terms of how the roles are written, Janis has a little more meat and carries some of the heart of the show.
I agree with you BC, but I think Lindsay will win for Carousel. I've heard negative things about the show, but everyone I've spoken to has singled her out as the standout of the production.

Actually, Kate Rockwell was the only totally random switch I made for this round of "way too early" predictions! I'll probably end up predicting Mendez at the end of the day as well.
After those reviews frozen ain’t being nominated for anything
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Frozen will definitely get nominations, but it won't win anything. The best shot it has at a win is Natasha Katz's lighting design and featured actress is Levy gets dropped in that category.
I have just finished up seeing all the new musicals tonight and here is what I would choose, though I do expect Frozen to show up in the actual nominations:
I really think Best Actor in a Play is the most interesting category this season. You have possible nominees in Nathan Lane, Andrew Garfield, Denzel, Jamie Parker, Tom Hollander, Mark Rylance, Joshua Jackson, and Stephen Pasquale (not that I think the last two will be nominated.)
It would be nice if the three featured actors in Angels are all nominated, and I'd love to see James McArdle win.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

I forgot Michael Cera!

Do we think Anthony Boyle has no chance for the Tony against any of the featured actors from Angels? I wish I could give both Boyle and McArdle awards for their incredible performances, but Boyle particularly bowled me over.

I don't see Harry Potter until 4/21 so I can't speak for Boyle's performance just yet but he did win the Olivier so I think he definitely has a great shot at the Tonys.

I think Anthony has a chance. Quite possibly the Angels actors would split the vote. Also, Anthony's character is more likeable and he is given more meat/range, IMO.
