Looking at GoldDerby predictions on the Tonys is like going to Times Square and asking everybody there who they think will win this season. Completely meaningless.

Do we think they’ll reduce the Best Actor nominees to 4 slots? I can only think of the following:
Shalhoub Slater Henry Hadden-Paton Nolan
I believe there has to be 7 to have 5 nominees correct? Or maybe it was 8. Either way, I could see them only nominating 4 leaving off Nolan. I do wonder if Disney recognizes this and may petition Jelani Allidan to leading, just because he could make it in such a weak year. Honestly I wish ONCE ON THIS ISLAND has petitioned Issac Cole Powell at this point.

LesWickedly, I disagree. I think La Chanze looks great in the clips, and I can't wait to see the entire ''She Works Hard for the Money.'' The Hollywood Reporter review called La Chanze ''a marvel.''
Does anyone think Harry Potter will manage a nomination for Best Score? It was nominated at the Olivier’s for Achievement in Music, so what’re the odds of it elbowing out one of the musicals?

The category is 'Best Original Score' and much of the music has been part of Imogene Heap's discography and has been retweaked. I don't know if it qualifies.
Denzel could always pose a threat. Especially if Lane and Garfield are both in Leading Actor.

Tom Hollander is also a possibility for Leading Actor for Travesties. But I would say the current frontrunners are Garfield, Jackson, Metcalf, and Lane (if he gets put in Featured). Potter has got Play, Sets and Lighting virtually in the bag. Costume, Director, and Revival are completely up in the air right now.
There are 11 productions of a play/revival of a play that have already opened, with 8 more yet to come. None of the 11 that have already opened have set the world on fire. Except for Uma Thurman or another Leading Actress to round out the category, and possibly John Leguizamo, Mark Rylance or one of the actors in The Children, I don't think any of the acting nominees are coming from any of the shows that have already opened. And a play like Iceman could have a lot of different possible Featured Actor nominations. So there's a real lack of clarity right now.

I disagree that Director and Revival aren't ''likely in the bag'' for Angels, if anyone takes director, it will be Harry Potter.
I believe Angels wins Revival, Actor and Featured Actress. It will likely get Director and maybe one tech award. Potter gets Play and most of the tech awards. Leaving Three Tall Women with Actress.
Featured Actor is Lane's to lose if he ends in the category, otherwise I don't know. Maybe McArdle can take it.
I believe the cast of Harry Potter will nominate the Olivier winners, Angels will likely have the entire cast members nominated, sans Pace. Whats the record for most nominees from a production? 7 from the original cast of Company?
I actually hope Andrew Garfield does NOT win for Prior Walter. I liked his performance very much in MA but in Perestroika I felt he became too shrill and one-note and essentially screamed for 4 hours.

It’ll have to go through My Fair Lady but I think it has a shot."
People have been predicting My Fair Lady to win Best Revival for a while, before it ever played a performance. I was in the same boat. Seemed like the obvious guess, and not because it is one of my favorite musicals of all time (it is), but because any producer with a decent budget could make such a beloved musical into a show that people will want to see. It’s been revived four or five times I believe, so it’s a great safe candidate to revive.
But lately I’ve been wondering what really should be the factors for determining best revival of a musical? I’d be curious to hear what everyone thinks. Carousel may have taken more risks, and it appears they didn’t pay off. Seems like most people will agree it is down to Once on this Island and My Fair Lady. Two very different revivals. If My Fair Lady gets the same sort of across the board raves on opening night that Once on this Island received, which show deserves it and why?
After seeing Once On This Island again tonight, Kenita R. Miller absolutely deserves a nomination. While the audience of course hooted and hollered after “Mama Will Provide,” “Ti Moune” provided the most sniffles and tears, and when Kenita joined in during “Ti Moune’s Dance,” the audience cheered. I think she’s the soul of the show.
The production is so winning. I hope it has legs by the time the Tonys come around. It’s just electric. I haven’t yet seen My Fair Lady or Carousel (I have tickets closer to their opening performances).
Yaaaaas Kenita!! I so hope she is nominated. She’s the heart of that production.

I personally enjoyed My Fair Lady more than Once on This Island, but the latter is clearly the stronger production. Even if My Fair Lady tightens everything up before opening, the staging of Once on This Island is enough to give it a win. Perhaps for direction as well. As for the performers, I was underwhelmed by Alex Newell - strong stage presence alone doesn't do much for me. Hailey Kilgore was lovely though, and I echo what's been said about Kenita R. Miller. She's giving a beautiful performance.
Because it would be smart for the producers to campaign for that placement. Cohn could be viewed as a supporting role. Honestly, all of the roles except Prior seem to be supporting to me. Both Lane and Garfield would probably win and would eliminate the chances of a split vote if they were put in different categories.
Stephen Spinella won the Featured Actor Tony in 1993 as well. I think it’s about how the roles are balanced once you see both plays as one. They originally premiered in separate seasons.
For what it’s worth, Al Pacino won Best Actor at the Emmys while Justin Kirk was Supporting.
