This is going to have to push it over $100mil. You have to think at some point soon the investors will revolt and refuse to put more money in...

This just makes me sick. It really shouldn't because I'm not giving them my money and I really don't care about this show AT ALL. But it still does. It bothers me for multiple reasons: 1) They are taking up a theater that could be being used by another show 2) Instead of realizing that the product they have won't work they seem to have this snide attitude of pushing on just to annoy everyone else. At this point, cut your loses and move on! It's costing more to run this mess than close it. 3) This one is the worst of all in my opinion .... They are taking money and audience members away from other shows. People that don't know any better, or have the sick desire to see just what a mess it really is, are going to this show instead of seeing ANYTHING else on Broadway. I don't care what it is, could be a show I hate, but at least it would be a show that was creatively well thought out. Something a lot of painstakingly precise work went into. Real art. And instead they are going to see a puppet show that isn't even calling itself a musical ..... a rock concert circus. Please.

I think we should all just declare the show open and to hell with it. They are exploiting the conventions of the preview period and bringing the whole process into disrepute.

Utter shambles!

"They are taking money and audience members away from other shows."

To be totally honest, many of the audience members at Spider-Man probably wouldn't be seeing a show unless it were that specific one. And also, each audience member is CHOOSING to see that show, and you have no right to say what they should spend their money on.

I'm on defending this show, as I did that too long, finally saw it and realized it wasn't good, but at this point people WANT to see Spider-Man and even without help the show is still going to sell through the roof.

Is there any show in broadway history that had someone come to fix it late in previews(when everyone thought the show would floped) and after they came the show became way better?

What about Love never dies? I haven't seen the "revised" version but apparently it has helped to improve the show and it collected seven Olivier nominations (after the original was pretty much bashed by the critics)

You know, this isn't funny anymore. The farce is over. If your show sucks let it suck, lady. You're not so damn special that you get a year to fix it.

As long as someone else foots the bill, I guess she has all the time in the world!

Nowhere in the Times article did it say that a delay past the Tony's was likely. I'd like to know Broadwayworld's sources on that, or are they just speculating? Everyone can assume that a further delay would at least surpass Tony deadlines. Though every time there's been a delay I've gotten a free ticket, so can't complain if there's one more.

The show isn't going to go away unless people stop going. The show is still raking in big bucks, regardless of its previewing endlessly. As long as the money comes in, the performances will continue and there is no pressure to officially open. Obviously, the pre-opening reviews have done nothing to stop the crowds from buying tickets.

Except sales are slipping. They are barely making their nut.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who would like to see how much business the box office and other ticket outlets are doing on this show day to day. there is still a lot of people seeing this who paid for it way back in 2010. The advance sales have to be drying up steadily. Also, I wonder how much of Julie's personal fortune is tied up in this fiasco.

Other than that, did you enjoy the play Mrs Lincoln?

Has anyone heard from them recently? They could be trapped somewhere

I bought tickets last year for December 22nd, the night after opening night.

Then the opening night got moved to January and then was getting moved again. So I moved my tickets to Feb 22nd, and moved up a row and two seats further towards center with no problem.

Now the opening date was moved to March 15th, and I had to fight with Ticketmaster last week to get the tickets moved to March 23rd. They couldn't find the same seats and refused to upgrade me to the premium center orchestra first 10 rows seats. When I asked for a full refund, the moronic supervisor I spoke to said he couldn't give me a full refund because the show wasn't canceled. What? I told him I would do a chargeback and he hung up on me. (Or failed to, he wound up cycling me back into the sales queue)

I eventually DID get the tickets moved, but now I'll have to move them again. I might try speaking to the theatre directly.

If I was in charge, I would give anyone who bought tickets before preview opened for an official showing and still hasn't seen it... any seat they want.

There is really NO excuse for what Julie is doing or has done. The storyline is GIVEN to her.. @*&#^@(* this is not a new story, people.

I don't think she is good at all!! What kind of "vision" is it to have Spider-man fly around the theatre. Anyone who took on the role of director would have done that.

This woman is an embarassment to Broadway. I wouldn't support this show if this was the only one to see. I can't support Julie.

Look on the bright side, kids: If THE BOOK OF MORMON is even half as good as its strong word of mouth, this anemic theater season will perk up a bit and, I imagine, steal a great deal of SPIDER MAN's business.
It's time to wind up the masquerade...

I'm thinking of titles for Julie's book about this Spiderman experience:

1) Inspiration Struck! (Injuring 20)
2) Look Out, I Have an Idea (No, Really, Look Out!)
3) This Book Is a Work in Progress. If You Buy It, Don't Expect All the Pages to Be There

Seriously though, I hope a great book--book-book, not musical book--gets made out of this a la THE DEVIL'S CANDY or FINAL CUT.

"Obviously, the pre-opening reviews have done nothing to stop the crowds from buying tickets."

Don't be so sure about that. It's only been two weeks since the reviews came out, and this was President's Day weekend, surely many people bought those tickets in advance. Still only sold 91%, it's second lowest % capacity.

And give quizking a break. Talking about a tombstone does not equal wishing for someone's death, it's just saying that is how they should be remembered.

And, it's very likely that this fiasco will be Taymor's legacy.

Well, let's see....they already had revealed that the operating cost was $1 mill per week. They have now added a person that will be pulling in a weekly fee for "working" on the book, a weekly fee for a person "advising" on the music, they will be adding (as soon as the producers smooth Julie's feathers and tell her basically 'It's our $65 mill so shut the f up and get over your ego') for the new directing "consultant".........all those weekly fees are going to make the weekly cost ...what? close to $1.4 mill? maybe more. How is this really going to work? You are a FLOP! Accept your fate. Take your tax loss and move on! Let all these talented people move to projects that are actually worthy of their talents.
