“Standing at the Sky’s Edge” was my absolute favorite West End show of the season but that performance didn’t really translate well, I thought.

What song did they sing? Really hope it was the opening or closing number and not the actual title song.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Your hopes were not met.

But I really enjoyed the number.

I find it interesting that a “jukebox” musical like “Standing at the Sky’s Edge” can win best score because of the new orchestrations of the songs. I’m curious if with how many Jukebox shows we have now, the Tony Awards will begin to do this.

The ITV editors are going to be having some fun (sarcasm) with the Richard Hawley speech

Wow. Matt Cole's "Newsies" choreography should have been on Broadway.

All I want for the rest of the ceremony is for Faith Omole to win Best Actress and Beverly Knight to finally win an Olivier for Best Sup Actress

"

He went long - swore a bit - and then swore a bit more - then they tried to play him off and he said something to the effect of "do you want to hear a funny story of more of that ****" - and then he told his story. And, so his 40 seconds were several minutes.

Chagrined that Standing at the Sky's Edge won't be on when we travel to London in late June....

I suspect we'll see Standing at the Sky’s Edge return at the National in a future season (like FOLLIES) or transfer to a commercial west end stage. Can't be the last of that show!

I presume there may be an NT cinema presentation (or NT@Home).  But, I still would prefer to see in person.

I doubt it. But isn't some of the Sky's Edge score original to the show? That's what I read in a description somewhere, that it was part original part Hawley catalogue.

Wow!  Three OLIVIER award winning plays will duke it out for this years Best Play in the Tony’s - Prima Facie, Leopolstadt and Life of Pi

the other two nominees will likely be Pulitzer award winning shows - Fat Ham and Between Riverside and crazy.

if ever this happens would this be the most award winning bunch of nominated shows in Tony history?
