If the 400s are not partial view, at least they are 'different than the rest of the theatre view.
And for being theatre in the round, I could tell the director had a preference of the audience entrance as a 'front view' for quite a few scenes.
I liked the vision for the overall look of the musical, but I'm not sure that Arden understands basic blocking for this kind of space, he just trusted the intimacy of it.
It takes experience for the audience not to feel they ate given a 'side' view in this type of space. The way the car, bed, etc are positioned, they all are directed to the entrance as a front.
